Some of you may have seen this project but I thought I'd share it here and see what people thought.
Anyway here's a whole bunch of stuff in one thread to save on postwhoring. All for a short piece involving lots of cheezy battle sequences with even cheezier death scenes. Mostly just model shots but feel free to crit away. The bug down the bottom is one of the bad guys (they will be about the size of a human head and there will be a lot of them). I am now in the process of animation and building environments.

Cool models, the steering of the bike is really original!
The models look quite WH40K though with all those thick armour pieces and rivets...
The walker is cool too!

wow! very very cool! I thought I was looking at sculptures until I saw the movement in one of them.
Really good stuff.. well modelled and colored...

Thanks to all.
Erik...The original concept designs for this project were scratch built models made from bits and pieces of busted up model kits and, surprise surprise, some chunks of old WH40K miniatures.:D
Kortez...I really want an action figure style feel here so I'm glad you were seeing sculptures.:D
benzo...thanks. As I have said above, I am going for a toylike feel to this...so lego is fine by me:D
I am in the middle of some environment designs so I will post 'em when I've got 'em.

Hi all...a test of the walker climbing up some debris (proxy boxes at this stage). Please feel free to critique. Sorry about the nasty compression but I have limited web space.

Woah... I love the animation on that climbing walker, although if I had one comment, its that it seems very light at the moment, and there isnt much bounce to it's movement.
 though, I love it.

Verrry nice work.
I have a comment about that last pic with the walker and the two bikes. I think you should remove that focus-effect cause it makes them look really small like toys and it kills the whole image. Then again you said that's the feel you wanted it to have so... :D

Thanks guys....tis no problem....twas only a test render.
The look I want is as if these guys are toys but the DOF on this was way extreme:D
I will post some more baddies very soon so check back in.

I really like the rendering you did! It's so much like a photo of a real model, the background i mean. Perhaps you can explain what you did so we can learn?
The bug boss is great btw. bt he is much more gritty than his little fellows.

Thanks Erik...I am not really sure whether I am doing anything different so giving you some tips on what I've done will involve some input from yourself.
What strikes you most....
What gives you the feel that it is a real model....
I will be happy to pass on any tips...I guess I just need to know....tips on what?

3d Studio Max 3.1 with Vray plugin for rendering
:D
BTW...here is a test for the (now much bigger) Bug Boss kicking a little guy.
