This page concludes a plot line in a graphic novel that I'm doing.some feedback would be great. My problems are that I've taken so long to do each page, does anyone no any secrets about drawing a graphic novel thats got the detail that'll convey atmosphere but can be drawn quickly? Please tell me any other areas of the page that could be improved.
Cheers

I like it. Is it PS stuff or hand drawn? Are going to color it?
I can't really comment anything about technique because i haven't done strips. How long did it take to complete this?
lots of questions, i know ;)

It's hand drawn, then i doged and burnt it in PS. cheers for the reply. Sorry for taking ages to get back...Am gonna leave it greyscale as the deadlines sunday! I'm just getiing used to doing sequential stuff myself and don't think I'm totally conscious of all the rules and requirements for the sequential area.

sorry, it took about 2/ 3 hours to do that one page, maybe longer, probably longer! If am gonna get into doing sequential stuff i think i better get a faster technique

There's a lot of empty space in the panels, and even with the talking bubbles, I think it'll look pretty empty. You should incorporate some background elements into the page; there's gotta be something to that lab they're in.
As far as quick effective atmospheres, I can't really help you. Try a bunch of things: textures, black, grays, patterns. See what works for you.
From what I hear, 1-2 pages a day (what I assume to be 8-9 hours) is pretty average for comic book pencils, so I don't think a faster technique is something to worry about.

Hi
Apart from the empty space that has been mentioned before, i really get distracted by the pattern/texture you used on the page. It's not adding anything to the story. It's a piratesmap, right? It's totally lost atm. I'd use it as a texture for the insides of the covers or something, and just leave the borders black.
If you want more information on writing a graphic novel, you should check out Making Comics by Scott McCloud (http://www.scottmccloud.com/). It explains how to approach comic writing and illustrating them really well. There is no quick way to do a graphic novel. It's rewriting, rewriting, rewriting, redrawing a gazillion times and then have it edited a couple of million times only to realise you have some stupid grammatical errors still in there once it's printed. So, 1 page a day ain't too bad.
