First post! :D I've been lurkin around here for awhile when I suddenly realized it isn't enough to look at all the great art around here. I've gotta get involved and post! Crits, comments, quick paintovers and suggestions are welcome and even encouraged.

First up we have a dragoon from starcraft.

Im not really sure what to do with the background. At first I thought maybe hes at the entrance to a cave of some sort but not im not sure if I even like that idea.

This one is really in need of some help. Im really not sure how to get the guy closest to the viewer to look like he just got hit really hard. The pose is really static. The orc on the otherhand I like a lot. The only problem Im having with him is that he really doesn't look like he's putting weight on either of his legs. How would you have to stand to swing a heavy mace like he is?

First pic needs some reflection of the environment. And maybe some stalactites.

For the second one:
For the orc i googled some discus throwers, for the legs. Maybe these help:

And for the victim:

Maybe that helps a li'l. Make him lie down in defeat. Head/horizon should be placed lower on the page then and make the orc overpower him in perspective too.

you might also look at pole vaultists as they're at the top of their vault with their back arching over, that would be cool.

the pole vaulter is a good idea. I would draw him where his face is visible, like he got hit so hard that his head snapped back. arch his back and have him just off the ground for the maximum effect.

Well its still not how I want it... but it is getting closer. Thanks for the help so far guys. I think the whole left arm of the guy doesn't flow with the rest of his body. But I think im going to rework it with some of the suggestions from you guys so it doesn't matter to much right now. :P

Aight so I really took some time to step back and get things right. I pretty much reworked the orc and am having a little trouble with getting the mace to look right so I just decided to erase it until later. I really liked Axioma's idea of having the head of the victim snapped back. The back of the victim doesn't look quite right... not sure how to fix that exactly. I think its going to become a habbit of mine to post on CA forums every time I get stumped :D

anyway heres the update

I haven't done much work on the dragoon but I must say even with the silhouette of stalactites and such it looks much better
