hi all! i need some help painting our good friend arnold here. im not quite sure on how to do proper textures of the skin etc yet. i also tihnk it looks a little off so far. any help on it would be greatly appreciated, just give me your suggestions

It helps to measure stuff out if you work from a reference photo. A grid is a good tool for that. Otherwise use the eye.

Also the colors - the jungle is green and the flesh is brown on your picture. In reality they would use colors of each other - the jungle, floor and sky would cast reflections on arnie and vice versa. The shadows and flesh tones would get all kinds of hues because of that. Use the color picker on a photo to see for yourself. Using your eye to see the different colors in the skin and so forth and putting these in the picture would greatly improve it.

Do not use dodge and burn.
