Hi all,

Last nights scribbling, personal work, about 7 hours... Reference used obviously. All textures are built up from scratch in PS using various custom brushes. When I started, I thought I'd do a quick 1 hour sketch, but as the picture progressed, I felt stronger for it ... so I spent the extra time to render the details as well. My inspiration was a warm romantic feeling, and I think I managed to pull it off. I started painting with very saturated blue and red colors, but eventually I felt it didn't look right. Last stage was to give it a yellow grade, think it helps a lot.

I liked the simplicity of the architecture, it gives it almost an unreal contrast in the relationship between the warm colors and the rather flat look of the composition. This was very appealing to me. So rather than pushing the "romantic" concept further, I wanted to sort of stay within the limits of the angular look of the geometry, and the soft look of the lights.

Enjoy!

I like this one a lot. Especially after your explanation about the angular and simplistic aproach. One small thing that kinda bothers me though is the Front fender of the scooter, cuz right below the handlebars you have two shapes defining the scooters fenders. One a is a lighter value of blue that the other, but I get the sense that the darker one is in front of the lighter one, but because it is dark, it looks like it behind the light one. Does this make sense? Maybe I'm just seeing it wrong in my head, and don't know what the scooter really looks like.

I love the whole thing, but this little scooter deal throws me off.

One thing struck my in this picture ( well, except from all the great detail and the absolutely beautiful rendering of the interior of the café), is that the name of the cafe isn't in any perspective. If the roof (well, it's made of canvas..but I don't now the english term) is going straight up, thats perfect, but usually in sweden (and I guess other places as well) its at an angle. I like this very much ,especially the interior through the glass.
Where is/was this café located? Might go and visit if it's nearby :)

Very very nice!
I love the color choices, and the way you used those to make it so simple yet so eyecatching. My only problem is with the front of the moped thingie..it is the only part of the image that deviates from the photorealism youve set up.

KEEP IT UP!

I've to agree the lettering looks a little out of perspective. The roof or whatever u call it(I think it's called canopy) seems to be slightly curved or slanted. And ummm the canopy in this case is made of cloth so the logo should be a bit wrinkled too.

But I think the rest of the painting looks very kewl. =)

I love the way you handle light. I feel like I'm both inside and outside when I look at this, if that makes any sense. :)
