I am trying my hand at digital painting.
These are all from photo refrences, and I would like to know what people think, and how I can make them better:

Thanks a ton.

hi man
Try to play with your brush opacity, right now everything is very hard and try to add more shadows / highlights to your paintings.
Thanks :)

I agree with fog, your brush strokes are very strong against each other. use the low opacity for your blending, or even try using the smudge tool a bit, ( i found the smudge tool to be very difficult to use, but it can create a nice effect.)

are you using a mouse or wacom? I wouldnt try to get into brush settings or fancy tricks yet. I would go in and look at the basic stuff first. Color, composition, form, light, etc etc. What are you going for? Realism or more abstract? These aren't bad by any means, but just need more practice with what you have at hand.

Thanks,
I would like to be able to do more photo realistic stuff, but what I ultimately like is the more impressionistic style. That is what these are meant to be.
I used the smudge tool a bit on them, and you are right it was hard. I have used opacity settings in the past, and I will give these a once over to bland the colors more.

Oh, and I was using a wacom.

Definetly begin to explore the other tools possible with this program but first I guess you should check composition and lighting like the brave ninja said....
