I thought it was alright, about half an hour too long though.

Good movie. The freehand camera parts were a nice addition.

I got the chance to see it again on my flight home the other night and normally on a second viewing you tend to warm up to films but this wasn't the case at all for me.
It is one of the most forgettable films I have seen in a long time.

the show was never really about any special theme. it was always about the characters. how they had to deal with all the stuff brought on by their undercover jobs and how they never could lead a 'normal' life. i think mann just tried to amplify that in the film. to show these guys are in so deep, that having a normal life and a girlfriend is impossible, and the conesequences of trying it while undercover are severe.. and its always their loved ones that end up getting hurt. that being the case i think the movie came off very well. many people missed that, or didnt appreciate it and expected more.. hence the disappointment.
anyway.. because it did less than expected at the box office, no one expects a sequel. BUT.. foxx and farrel WANT to do a sequel, but liven it up with more action this time. id have to concur.. that could show it the wway it should have been in the first place. we'll see.. - JAG

Haven't seen Vice yet, but Mann's Heat is one of my favorites of all time and that movie dealt with the same kinda issues. Lookin forward to Miami Vice.

Pretty good movie, although I was missing a plot and was waiting for the great finale when the film was over Oo I also thought the characters were shallow as hell.
Visually stunning. Not worth the 15 bucks for the DVD though.

yeah i agree with that. the ending leaves you wanting more from it. the big finale really isnt that big. and im not thrilled with how it leaves you hanging at the end with no real resolution of anything at all. but it does leave you with that uncomfortable sadness that the intimate and personal lives of these guys are whats been damaged.. and where do they go from there? - JAG

Michael Mann is a freaking genius !
I think he is by far the best action movie director of his time.
I never thought a movie with a storyline that can be written down in a few sentences,
would entertain me so much to the very last minute.
It is the best action movie I've seen in a long time.
It kept everything that was good about the series and got rid of the bad stuff.
I look forward to what he'll produce in the future
