Hello all together. This is my first post in this forum and I diddnt paint for a long time but since i want to switch my career into a drawing job I begin now to draw everyday. I hope you guys can help me to improve my skills (okay i am sure you can). This forum is amazing. Only to look at other peoples work is inspiring me a lot. But of course I need some helpful critics since there are not much art skilled people around my place.

Enough of talking. Can you please give me some critics about this image (more following).

The title is "love breaks all borders". With the light I want to attract of course the viewers eye to the baby and the creature. The cave should be a place which normally no human beeing wants to be but the warmth of the light and the peaceful beast should show that love can break these borders of plain human thinking.

Thanks in advance

Hi Mathieu,

It is almost there. I think the cave and the lighting are fine but the baby looks a little dead. He definitely needs some more fleshy colors. His head seems a little too big or his features are too far apart for a baby. Get some reference.
To get the feeling of love I think the baby should be awake and looking happily at the beast. Maybe a hand on the beast instead of the tentacle.
I really like the way you handled the cave, the color changes, texture, and lighting are beautiful.
If you do work on it some more, please post.

Tell me what is causing the light source? Howe is the beast making it?

@ Felicia

jeah I think your right. I want the baby to smile more peacefully but it doesnt show very good. I will repaint it I think with more fleshy living colors. Jeah I see I need to study more reference. I will post asp.

@ Rabid Peanut

The lightsource is from a tentacle that has the possibility the light up the cave. Like the beasts in the dark sea. You dont see it very clear. i think the image is too small. Here is the detail:

Okay I can see it now alot better! Watch your baby's face, I think the head could be slightly smaller and the eyes, nose and mouth should be closer together......the baby also needs just a hint of a neck....

Heres a proportion shot for yah! Great work and keep it up!!

My guess was an embryo given the umbilical chord but I could be wrong....

Thank your for your comments and help! I should write that before sorry. The Baby should be from the age of 2 months - 5 months. So i found some more reference of that and I will post it as sap.
