I think its okay. The figure battles with the grass for its rightful place in the middleground of the picture. I know what your trying to get across but the grass looks like it is as big as the man. Try doing it over with the moon as the lightest shape then the man and cross as the second darkest shapes. Finally the grass as the darkest shapes. So its, Lightest, kinda dark, then really dark. When everything is really simplified then think about translucent light in the grass and the other details you would like to put in.

hehe i have to agree, i see other pictures in all your thumbnails, but thats a good thing, try to find them yourself and make other pictures of them, i di a screensaver once that i ended up doing 5 others pics from

and now for the painting, i have to agree, the grass is competing to much with the envo, other then that its good

EDIT: and ye, it whould be cool if there was another man in there

well drd i wouldnt necessarily say better, im mean i got the idea from your work. u definately have talent, and if u keep practicing u have nothing to worry about. especially on a site like this with inspiration all around u. this is the best site ever!
ill definately get better here. how can i not?
in the mean time ill try and do something with this grass n stuff.
and lotet when u say another man in there, where exactly do u see him if i added him?

i was thinking of another one standing next to him, or even a girl. The reason is becuase i feel something is missing, and when the pic is not that much ermn "grassy" i think that feeling will grow even stronger, so in short, another person standing next ot him or something whould be cool

Yeah, this site is a Godsend.

But I just meant that I think that this piece is better than mine.

Hm, I dunno if another person, a woman, would fit, because he's standing in front of the cross, is it a grave? If it is, then it would make sense that this is a personal scene, so unless the woman is hanging on his arm or next to him affectionately I don't think it would work very well.

I would just bring things into sharper focus, other than that I can;'t think of anything.

well that was kinda what i was thinking, another person there griefing with him, maby even a little girl to make it really dramatic

it was kinda of a personal picture of man visiting a grave. maybe an old battle took place there and his friend died. something like that. adding another person would add more softness. it would fit but do i really want that is the question. or do i want it to be just soft enuff in a fleeting, insignificant to anybody else, moment?

Well, it has the atmosphere to suit both; It's your decision.
