This thread was exactly the motivation I needed to register. I love the classic movie monsters and new takes on them (I spent my childhood watching Monster Squad repeatedly). The line of redesigned classic movie monsters McFarlane toys did is the best work I've seen them do.

Anyway, I'll be sure to do something here eventually.

That's priceless! Definitely an original take on him. He doesn't look at all evil either which is good. I never thought of King Kong as a bad guy.

Damn. i just completed my take on the wolf man but wouldn't you know it; my scanner craps out again. I'll try to have it up this morning. I don't feel like messing around with the damn thing tonight.

I got my scanner going again and for once I deliver on what I say I'm going to post!

I kind of wanted to stray a bit from the wolfman cliches like the one of the guy running through the woods, growing hair, claws and teeth and howling at the moon. I picture my wolfman ripping himself out of his human skin.

I was browsing through this thread admiring the art with no particular thought breezing through my empty little brain... but then I found Exo's Mbwun sketch.

Dude!!! Mbwun is one of my favorite monsters-from-a-contemporary-novel. I was surprised to see him since the movie was horribly bad I didn't think many knew about The Relic. The novel’s story was better than the movie’s.

I'm almost tempted to post some sketches...

For those who haven't read the Relic, a hypothalimus is a gland in the brain that produces growth and development hormones. The Mbwun is a creature that was once a man but became heavily infected with a virus that coded for animal trates. It craves the hormones produced by the hypothalimus so it can continue to evolve. Basically, the monster does nothing but rip off peoples heads and eat their brains out of their skulls.
