Hello and welcome to the 3D & SCULP challenge VOTING.
CHECK OUT ROUND ONE (if you haven't)
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=81432
For the 2nd round - we went easy - and maybe you thought it's not challenging enough. I am glad we have such strong players around - but i'm sure the ones who did join this - had a lot of fun.
THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING AND FOR YOUR EFFORTS.
COngratulations to people who did both stages of the challege - concept and 3D - Mike and Vampire_Ninja come to mind.
A big hand goes to the people who couldn't finish... i know time is not easy on any of us. Hope to see you around and to see you finished stuff.
Thanks go to the CHOW crowd.. i hope they will be here more often to give you a hand.. and i hope you guys will give the the harsh feedback - there where it's needed. Building orthos it's not easy.
Now... i was thinking on how to split the poll.. into Sculpt, 3DHIgh Poly, Low poly etc... but in the end... i think itss all a matter of how we represent the ortho.
A low poly.. seems easy.. but we all know that normal maps these days... are drifting the poly barrier in terms of detail. Surely.. holding a sculpt in your hand and looking over details has no replacement in a digital world. The picture of a sculp should be no match for a great render. The highres guys have all the lights, materials and the freedome of the 3D tools - yet their job is hard like hell.
All in all - we all have fun building in 3D.
I consider we all know the diferences between mediums. We all have our own preferencers and theories.
(next round will me more tech - and i fear the sculpt guys might have a hard time with it. we try to cover all the areas and to offer a lot of different concepts for everyone. the challenges will remain open - you can always go back and try your hand of something - just make sure you let us know by posting yor stuff.)
The voting allows multiple choices, and it's public.
DON'T VOTE FOR YOUR SELF!
Apart from that... fell free to value the works as you see fit.
The new round is on.. it's easyer, and it should be fun. We haev some crazy orthos this time... so.. BRING IT ON.
Dont; be shy.. ask the ortho guy about anything.
Let's rock this place!
TOPIC:
DESIGNER TOY
later we will have the concepts from COW, IDW and even... EOW.
feedback is always welcome!
NOTES:
Before we roll the orthos i will kindly ask you to consider upploading your 3d files to the website along with the render.
the ideea is - we can use the models for other activities - texture challnege, light & shader, animation, etc
This is optional!
For the Sculptors:
If you want you can send the sculpt to the artist who did the ortho. I ma sure they will be so happy to see touch their concept for the 1st time.
It will motivate a lot of people to submit concepts and it will help up all along in the long run. Again.. this is optional!
