Hi there Rosewarne,
Funny you should mention the textured glow tool...here's the thread.
Hope it helps.

As for the general shape of the tool itself...i have no idea if that can be changed..i would imagine that jinny brown would know.
Cheers and good luck with that.

It's easy to change the shape of the Glow brush. To physically alter the shape from circular to rectangular you must create and capture a dab.
To keep from accidently messing up the default variant I always create a new brush category first.
Use and image, make a square selection, then apply the Brush Selector Bar>Capture Brush Category command. Name it ...whatever.
To change the Glow variant shape, do the following:
1. Select the Conte or Chalk variant, make it the size you want to use.
2. Open a 250x250 pixel document (can be larger if you wish).
3. Select Black as the primary color.
4. Create a new layer.
5. Place a single dab in the center of the layer.
6. Choose the Glow variant, apply the Copy Variant command and copy it to the new brush category.
7. Drop the layer.
8. Use the Oval Selection tool to make a selection that the dab fits inside.
9. Apply the Edit>Copy command, followed by the Paste in new image command.
10. Select the entire new image.
11. Open the new brush category and select the copied Glow variant.
12. Apply the Brush Selector Bar>Capture Dab command. You will see the dab image change in the Brush Controls Size palette if it's open.
13. Apply the Brush Selector Bar>Set Default Variant command.
Compare your this brush with the default Glow brush. Don't overlook using the Brush Controls Angle sliders to alter the shape even more. Now you have 2 Glow variants that you can maniplulate the shape and grain
effects.
Hope this helps you get what your looking for.
