A sketch of a Shadowrun-esque take of a dragon in his corporate office. It's a work in progress towards a full digital painting. I'm trying several things with this piece:

a. Be enthused about backgrounds as I am towards my figural work
b. Using Illustrator for the initial roughs of the buildings
c. Start with a monochromatic grey scheme and build up values, then light source, then color (for color discipline!)

Office looks pretty sparse. Will have to address that, and make sure that there will be indications that there is a window in the background. I'm wondering if this is too 'static' in the initial composition.

I'm not sure the composition is great in terms of establishing a focal point. right now it seems like two pictures , there's no connection between outside and in. "static" as you said seems to be a good word, because there are alot of horizontal and vertical lines.
The background doesn't seem to have a common vanishing point. actually I'm having trouble figureing out the perspective at all some of the buildings seem to be growing as they get farther from us .
also, I'm not sure about the dragon sitting on the same ground plane as the woman is standing on. it kinda looks like he's sticking his body out of a hole in the floor, which I'm sure is against office policies.
Keep fighting with it, every office should have a dragon :)

Thanks for the feedback Rhubix. After your crits I realized that I did indeed grow my buildings in Illustrator (chia buildings?:) ) I'll see if I can if I can rework the them (with proper vanishing points) and get all the elements together in terms of the foreground figures working with the background. It will be interesting what the corrected cityscape perspective will do with my decisions in the foreground.
