Geez, I can't believe it's been a year since I last put work up here. (not counting embarrassing thunderdome failures.) Well, that's about to change! BEHOLD!

The first two are old pieces, one based on an evil cleric character my brother made and the other one based on my pack-rat uncle. I knew people who thru-hiked the appalachian trail (2202 miles), and one of them told me how he picked up quirky little gadgets along the way and attached them to his walking stick. It ended up weighing over 24 pounds by the time he got to Maine! Yeesh!

The next one is my Last Man Standing 2: Round 1 image. I think the piece kind of failed due to being too busy and unfocused, but for some reason I'm showing it anyway. Weird.

The other three are spot illustrations I did in hopes of attracting some RPG commissions. I tried to get more humanity and narrative into these ones, though I was too busy playing around with tentacles to get that done with the octopus. With the orc, I wanted to show him finding another traveler's gear, like he's a grizzled veteran trying to figure out what happened. With the last one, I wanted to playaround with costuming, since I rarely do that stuff.

Even though it's been up for several months, I think I finally put enough art on there to tell people about it. Here you go! (http://www.incredibleandy.com)

Anyways, have fun looking at it, and any critiques, comments, etc. about this work, my website, or anything else in general is greatly appreciated. I rework my old art too much, so I promise every suggestion is given a fair shot. Finally, I'm boarding the plane to California and Gen Con (and an amazing J.C. Leyendecker show in San Francisco!) in a few hours, so it might be awhile before I get around to replying. Enjoy, and thanks!

Awesome dude!
Great work - especially like the backpacking-guy. The woman on the last one may have a bit heavy hips, huh?

Nice work. You know how to finish a piece with great effort put in to it and this shows. In my opinion though, not every part of the paintings requires to be fleshed out so tight. For instance usage of lively brush strokes, or blurred parts that quide the eye to the more tight areas. Also I think you can inprove on lightning and color variation in general. Let's say the red creature in the first picture can have color variation and still be red. Take care.

i really like the second and the last ones the most... The second has tons of character.. The only thing that bothers me is his armm... It seems like he has some sort of weird skin disease... kinda creeped me out when i saw it... the last one is really special.. I love the whole design of the girl and the way shes rendered... Fantastic... Thanks for sharing... keep up the great work

Wow, the octopus-lady is a blast. I mean the tentacles look really realistic and as if they were in the middle of an attack-move.

Nice work!

Holy cow, people be all respondin' to my stuffs!

Pascallo-cool, I'm glad you dig the old traveling fella. With the lips, I probably got too obsessed with my reference and exaggerated it a bit much. I oughtta lookie that some more.

Ramon Contini-I'm glad you mentioned that. In school, one of my big problems was that my originals would look okay in small reproductions, but the originals didn't have the interesting details to make people explore my piece. That was a long time ago, though, and now the flat level of detail ain't so dynamic. Time to reasses where I need to take my work. :)

Nephilim, Jabo, Emperor, Maxetormer, Shadoman- Hella tight thanks mode :^^: :^^: :^^: :^^: :^^:

Vigostar-Durn it, but I love old guy arms, what with all of the dried crud and discolorations. Might be reading too much like the plague, though.

Den, don't even get me started. CCAD art kids mode my boy, CCAD art kids...

These look really nice. The design and rendering are great. I think you can improve your skin tones and get some color into your shadows though. Your skin tones look overly purpley and even, and it's making your figures look a little plastic and inanimate.

That last one is really good! I think it is the best in the bunch with great design and rendering. I have a minor crit if you don't mind. Based on how strongly the light is hitting her arm and breast, I think there should be some light also on her lower jaw. Her left hand(our right) is a little odd too. However these are very nit picky and the level of work is very high. I am leaving impressed and inspired.

Dan. You're a real piece of work. Don't rag on a rendering style such as this when you shallowly follow any works that rip off Wood or Hale. Like the 'played out' much? It seems we all do. Bend over and smell your own shizer buddy. :P Heh

I still luv ya Dan.

Btw Andy "Thanks for coming out!" ^_^
Seriously though, it seems hard work pays off. But then again so do scribbles.
:teeth: -eh Dan?

Geez, I really took my time in replying. Better late than never!

Arne S., Theo, Chupacabra- It's good to know that someone likes my work. Thanks.

Emperor, Dkounios, Nathan Long, GOBLINSHARK-it's neat seeing what different people respond to out of this work. Some people hate on the old traveler guy, and some people say it's the absolute best. I stare at the paintings for so long that I don't even know how I feel about em anymore. I know that I've never 100% finished a piece to my satisfaction, but that's about it.

GOBLINSHARK-Dad gum it, I thought that I explained the deal with the Orc. I tried to make the items and sword look like they couldn't belong to him, like he's searching through the spoils of victory or something like that.

nonie-now that you mention it, I agree that I've been getting lazy with my color lately. I think that too often I'll block in an area just to get it in the ballpark of what I want, but then I get pressure to finish it and end up leaving it basic and without the cool fun stuff that I need to do with it. I appreciate the comment, thanks.

voodoochile-First off, don't be timid in critting. I wish more people would point out improvements I could make in my work :). I know that a bit of light should probably hit her face, but I was trying to keep the face simple to balance all of the hair and costuming detail. It could probably use more care, though. And yeah, that hand is kinda forced. I should make it more believable.

jtj-c'mon buddy, give Den a break! He's a good kid, and he's way better than I was at 19. He's basically trying to say what Ramon Contini said, and I think that Ramon's has been the most helpful bit of advice so far. Sure, maybe Den said it in a way that suggests that all artists need to be rockstar painterly "beasts" like Ash Wood or Phil Hale or whoever else, but deep inside of that comment somewhere was something I found kinda helpful. I'd take that over him not commenting any day.

In short, I'm grateful to people who like my stuff, and I'm extra especially grateful to the people who pointed out things I need to work on. I always felt lucky that I got such useful comments on my previous threads, and I owe a lot to this site for where I'm at with my work. Thanks again!
