On the left, the shoulder seems to far back and too large. I would imagine desert people have little food- to preserve rations in case of emergency- and would have to use as little energy as possible. The collar seems like it would be more obnoxious than useful if it is made from plastic- Cloth bends and twists with the neck- so maybe coming up with something that can emulate that movement would be better? The overhead part is pretty cool with the whole armadillo thing.
When you say warrior- do you mean Soldier or Knight? Or like a nomad warrior? Because that explains the head armor then...
The staff he is holding seems a bit too randomly patterned, and the sword looks big for a desert guy. I think the biggest thing on him should be something to hold water in (but not too big), along with some sort of rapier or sabre that is light and flexible, a Dagger, and maybe a bow. I think he would also need more protection from the Sun in terms of arms and chest. Again, one can see why cloth is the material of choice in the middle east :D
Good luck!

I aggree on the cloth looking far too cumbersome,as someone whose been to the desert several times i can tell you that most people just wear something along the lines of a simple piece of cloth over thier head, often one soaked with water, hope that helped a bit =)
