i got mine some weeks ago - same here: a lil soft spot for new shirow stuff. :)
it's not bad... certainly better than the second part where he often was seriously messing with 2d/3d that did absolutely not fit together or typical bryce models.
he still has those 2d/3d problems, but he seems to get a better grip on the thing... still a lil bit of brycey stuff around but also overall better modelling.
for me, it does not reach intron depot 1, same as manmachine interface did not reach appleseed :)
solid manga artbook, though, and full of nice ideas and inspiration :)
very shirow "costume" designs again :D

Inron depot is acpllection of Masamune Shirows (think that is the spelling...) artworks.
he is the guy behind Appleseed, Ghost in the shell, and a whole lot more.
the first Intron is the better one in my opinion.

ink: intron depot is the artbook "series" of masamune shirow. you sure are familiar with his work :)
imho, you get the best one of the three when you buy the first. his newly, digital stuff just lacks a certain edge.

No #3 is the worst in my opinion, it has the same feel of #2 with all the CG stuff, but lacks the sense of "Wow you can do that!!!!". it isn't half as revolutionary like the previous.
And good old Shirow isn't improving much lately, just keep drawing the same 3 girls over and over and over.
Give me a Frazetta book anyday.

i have one and two. and i think he has "gotten lazy" on the doing backgrounds and the like in number two. i still love his work....but i haven't seen three yet, i find it would be okay if his cg art integration has improved but if only marginaly then really whats the point? i want him to produce more stories!!!! not art books. okay thats a lie. i want both. why fight it.:p

i do agree that #1 is better than #2. i'll prolly get #3 anyways. artbooks are the coolest.
it would be cool if all the people on the front page of conceptart.org put together an artbook. jason...are you listening....?
