So they decided to reprint the Blade Runner Directors Cut. Finally. It was hard to find out that Last Man Standing was out of print some years ago and a pleasure to see it back last year. I've been searching for a Blade Runner DVD for years but couldn't find one, at one point last year, the prices on Amazon MarketPlace started at 190 bucks.

So, Mr. Moviemaker, I'll buy your stuff if you just let me do so!

It's a shame that there are so many good movies out there that haven't been re-released on DVD.

I found my copy lasy year in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart.
The transfer was aweful. Grain and the usual screen anomalies were pretty bad. Do you know if this is a remastered, digital transfer?

Personally I loved the original theatrical release with Dekker's narration. I used to have it way back when... on Beta. Doh!!
It would be nice if they put both on one disk, or at least release the original along side the DC version. C'mon already!!

It's coming. I'd hold off on buying the current DVD, it's just a money grab. There is a big box set coming next year that includes 4 different versions of the film (the director's cut, the original theatrical cut, the international cut, and Ridley Scott's all new final cut, which will also be getting a theatrical release next year), plus a shitload of extra stuff.

The Bladerunner DVD was scarce? Crazy. I'm very much anticipating the special edition and supposed theatrical re-release :D

Ostrander: It's remastered completely with digital video and audio.

Brumfield: I haven't watched the theatrical cut and personally I like the DC a lot. The unicorn/origami scene is a great point of view and really adds to the tension. Although I'm eager to what the narration sounds like. The Re-Re-cut is an advertising joke. Scott stated he didn't like it, right? But thanks for the hint, maybe I'll sell the DC dvd next year and get the box.

Hmm... I'm not sure what you mean buy "Re-Re-cut". Do you mean the so called Director's cut (the one that's on DVD now and which isn't really a director's cut), or the "Final Cut"? Not much is known about the FC, other than it's supposedly going to be released into theaters next year and it's supposedly Scott's definitive cut of the film. The true director's cut, so to speak.

I just hope the new release will have some of the documentaires that have been made. I hated the original release, especially after seeig the director's cut. The DC is so much better and open ended. The whole "Is Dekker a replicant?" thing is intriguing. I had no idea that it was hard to find on DVD. I bought mine in a 2 for $20 bin at Suncoast. Interesting to hear a new DC is coming out.

Brumfield: Sorry, I mixed up the titles. Scott said he didn't like the DC and that it was a management idea, I think.

Hookswords: The English DVD isn't hard to find, but the international releases (german in my case) was rare. And I second what you say about the open ended DC. Blade Runner is film noir and thus doesn't need a happy end.

I managed to find a copy at the back of the bargain DVD section a couple of months back at last. It's not too bad (the copy that is, not the movie, the movie is incredible).
