damn... good work, people!

I voted for Noiion, although I would have voted for Ilaekae, but when the thread loaded, it cut off after Nike's entry... oh well...

Flip, great job including a real story in the picture...

Ok here it is.
Voting by elimination

1. eliminate mine…. cause its mine

2. Eliminate all entries where the two halves don’t mesh together to make a whole.:
Noiion, great draing, the jewelry rocks but either half could stand alone

Mehz black line down the middle divides character in half, and the blurry background detracts ffrom the graphic b/W style

Waffle_king … nice comic book style, but how is this one portrait?

Noë nice try, very low contrastand the central countour line would be more effective if it traveled the contour of the face, attaching the two sides together

Flip, for me they just don't tie together

3. Go Back and look again
Arttourney- way to blend media I wish the painted side were a little cleaner with more of the value range of the modeled side

Hyver…nicely done, has a good jekely/hyde quality and a wellintegrated style. Wish the nongrimacing half was a little more emotionally in contrast though

JLAlfaro—woah creepy…..like that you didn’t take the easy vertical split way out. Well done. This was my pick..till ….

Glikster—is this finished? It looks a little rough to me. An interesting solution but I wish the man and woman looked more similar
Llike two parts of the same character

Nathan I used to have a book called “Tospy-turvies” this would fit right in.

Nike. Nice one it’s definitely the same person in two aspects

But I had to vote for Ilaekae, cause it just jump out at you and wellsays it all.

Voted for Nellie's (Chaosrocks) entry, because it is the most emotional and has beauty in it, in my opinion. Composition on paper, shapes, combination of colors and communication with viewer is the best, IMHO. Done with love, apparently.

Well, I voted for myself, because someone had to.

But if I hadn't, I would have most likely voted for Flipmcgee. I think Ilaekae's and Noi's are the best as far as techique goes, but Flip is the only one that really made the two halves mean something thematically. This is the double life of a masked wrestler. No one knows that the tough girl who fights in the ring is also the sweet, demure girl who loves puppies.

He has told a story, where none of the rest of us have.

Good job, Flip!

Wow! thanks for the votes guys. Seriously, good turnout. I voted Ilaekae because I love the style. Very refine look.

Chaos: Very emotional piece. I would suggest adding some crystals to the ice side if I was to see you wip thread before.

Arttorny: Did you made that sculpture. THe painting side looks really unfinished.

Mehz: Cool concept. I would love to see a little more shading values on the peice.

Waffleking: Really strong design. It would work as Batman's Twoface.

Hyver: Really Nice painting. An outstand peice from the bunch. THe contrast from the 2 sides are not that strong, though.

Noe: I really like the picture. It's too bad you couldn't finish it.

JALlfaro: Turdman! That's a classic. I really like the design. Keep at it.

Glikster: I like the idea, but if wouldv'e worked better if the guy and girl were to look more similar.

Nathan Long: I like the concept, but it's hard for me to get the picture offf the old man. And shame on yo for voting for yourself.

Nike: Great effort. THe anatomy looks a little off. I would suggest getting the head shape correctly before going further.

FlipMcgee: Sorry I took the Medusa from you. I love the secondary idea though. It's a more reallistic aprroach, where someone can actually relate to.
OK I've spent enough time.

Hmm, I'm having trouble between FlipMcgee and Ilaekae. I love Flip's idea and Ilaekae's vectors. Arrgghh! Stop making this hard on me!

I sat patiently while some guys I knew cast a mold of my face about seventeen years ago, so I guess I collaborated in the making of the sculpture. I only had an hour or two budgeted for this image in view of a couple of other activities and a woodcut I wanted to make over the weekend. Sorry if I hurt your eyes.;) For the painted side I was using a teeny little photo I just got of myself on my court mediation badge. I think it is smaller than a driver's license picture. It was a challenging ref.

Denart, Thanks!

Chaos, I appologize. I had no idea. I assumed everybody would do that. I won't do it again. I guess it's different here than in politics. I doubt George Bush voted for John Kerry. Or vice versa.

This ws surprisingly difficult. noiion had the most finished piece, and both halves were very strong, but I didn't think they worked to gether as a unit, at least for me--I mean as ONE face with two different aspects of it's personality--I would liked to have a more cohesive interlocking of the two parts.

I originally had the same problem, so I approached mine from the point of view of "layers." Innocence lifted to reveal a ghost of what was with a non-innocent aspect burning through the what was...know what I mean?

I tended toward noe and chaos because I liked the cohesiveness and ultimately went with Chaos because it was more finished.

I was planning on having a different aspect with the jewelry to tie the pictures together but didn't get to it due to time constraints. >:| I'll get back to that piece once I'm done with the Pinup contest. It's only 60% done. So much left to do to it. :\ Cheers!

why is my stupid piece of 10 minute shit in there :P
ah well, I might finish it later, but I just don't have TIME, shitty school just takes all my time, and I've been ill for the past few days..
damn :P

I must say there are some really great entries in here.. I voted for Ilaekae's, just for the coolness of it and the great contrasts.
