I didn't feel like waiting a year, soOOOOO...
We're gonna do it again! And this time, I'm announcing the topic...
THIS IS VECTOR-ONLY! How you interpret the topic is up to you. Whatever treatment/style you use is up to you. Anything goes...as long as it's VECTOR ONLY.
And the topic is...
MASKED...
(This includes any definition of the word that can be construed from the definition of the word "Mask.")
This challenge is running simultaneously with the "WE WUV DWESSUP..." vector-only challenge, but you can't use the same art for both...
Official Starting Time: Monday, November 6, 2006
Deadline: Sunday, November 26 ,2006, at midnight where ever you are. (I've extended the deadline one more week because of the holidays coming and to make sure everybody who's busy on other challenges has a chance to enter...)
Ground rules:
You can scan a guide sketch in, but it can't be a part of the final art in any way. It must be deleted before you post.
All art, including any linework, coloring, shading, etc., must be VECTOR ONLY. You can't use any part of your app that executes as a rasterized image. No brushes, no rasterizing filters, no nothin' that you're used to in Photoshop and Painter. This includes the brush tool in Illustrator. Pen only.
You can use any filters as long as they don't rasterize the image to work properly. This rules out most, if not all, photoshop filters. Basically, pretend you're working in Illustrator 4.x or so, or its equivalent.
Coloring can include standard fills, the blend and gradient tools, and any opacity and deformation tools controls you might have access to, AS LONG AS THEY DON'T CHANGE THE ART TO A RASTER IMAGE to execute properly. The first time around, I asked for the "outline/wire-frame" version to prove you really did a vector-only drawing, but I think you're all honest people, so that won't be necessary this time around. But... trust me, I'll know if you're cheating... :)
Once your art is done, convert it to a jpeg for posting. Color sometimes muddies a bit in the conversion, so MINIMAL correction is allowed at this point, but DON'T add any additional detail or art effects. Make sure your jpg title includes your nick so I can keep track of them (for example, "endroid-blahblah.jpg").
WHEN YOU'RE FINISHED: Post your final piece in this thread. I'll open up the final poll Monday night after I transfer all the entries to my Image Event account.
TRASH TALK and the random killing of small fuzzy things is mandatory--especially cute wuvable bunny things! Collateral damage is to be expected... Any bitching about possible "Modernist," "Abstract Shit," "Manga Shit," etc., influences will result in the pelting of your home/studio with bags of ripe cat shit...
Anyone who wants in is in. You can post your involvement here. All judging will be by open poll....
Good drawing...
