Just finished a set of two watercolor shoes for class tomorrow. I would post pictures of the shoes but I don't have a camera. :( They were supposed to be done in pencil, but then all my pencils disappeared... I just want to know what everyone thinks and how they could be improved. I find it's hard to keep watercolor values under control.

These look good. The second one is much more interesting because of 1. the color, 2. the wider range of values and 3. the composition. In the second one, it seems like the top shoe would cast a heavier shadow over part of the bottom shoe. You could afford to get more darks in there i think. Hope I helped

You did nofingers, thanks. I don't know if I didn't notice if the top shoe did cast a darker shadow, there was a lamp to the top right of them. In the first one the light source is from the top left. If it wasn't the only project I had to do today, I would go back to it. Probably some other time.

hey man, I really like em; great work especially in watercolor. I like that you painted very selectively and that you used the page itself for highlights and such (something I need to get better with). I agree with nofingers on the second one and I also like that one better of the two; I think one thing that would help the first one a bit would be more color usage rather than it being strictly grayscale (unless that's what you were going for). I remember someone telling me not to use pure greys when I painted, because most of the time colors would be reflected to some degree and change it away from being a strict grey. again, if you were going for a greyscale or if in fact there wasn't much color reflected at all then just disregard what I've said :P hope I could help, great job on them once again.

That's cool Onir. The more elegant shoes are actually pure black. I would also think someone would use greys only to help them practice with value. At first I thought the second pair would turn out horrible and it seems the opposite now. :P
