oh well, now i know you've come back to life, so i'll be stalking you. mwhahahaha!
wonderful movie still but even more great are the figure studies and the line work. the oils/watercolors make me go nuts and pretty much everything you do inspires me to go home and draw my brains out. when that happens, it crosses from normal artist to an artist that kicks butt and makes others create. go you! you're the best. :] don't stop posting!

witek charcoal ? willow charcoal specifically ( is what i use...) just try to touch the paper as less as you can, careful with smudging ( i use to lose quite often the sense of planes due to it ) and that's it lol everything else to make a good drawing like in ANY other medium in my belive is good drawing, value and edges. if doesn't look right correct it, don't let it slide for later!

Cracking work as always :)
Just I have to say something about the charcoal portrait on the right. I see those loose "bits" that escape the form boundary around the edges of the face (which seems to be a Lavender style, which i have no problem with), but it makes him look like he has a fuzzy beard. Which is awesome in itself but I can see he doesn't one from the other parts of the drawing. So, its possibly over emphasised. Saying that, those are both kick ass portraits.

Heya call0ps, we haven't spoken in a long time - at least not since after our little SSG folded ^_^
How're you doing these days?
I just spent the last 8 ours updating my CA.org sketchbook, photographing, and manually uploading 290+ images online. Don't want to do that again! Hopefully the batch uploader will be available soon.
Anyway, I'm going to attend the Feng Zhu Design School in a few short weeks, for about a year. Just waiting on Visas atm, but everything should be fine.
Still doing fine work as always, keep it up!

at the moment the edges all seem a little lost because the brushes don't have much opacity, maybe try this brush (http://www.ollylawson.co.uk/gradient2.abr), i've been using it lately, i believe it's originally maciej's from one of the imagineFX CDs, tweaked a bit.
it's a gradient brush that lets you control edges well depending on which direction you stroke in, split into 3 angle controls for different approaches; 1:less controlled marks, maciej' original; 2nd rotates more like a brush if you have an intuos 2 or later with tilt; 3rd i use mostly, easiest to control edges, i guess you'll see from experimenting.
don't know about the texture, usually a soft edged airbrush with a texture works for me for applying some in some crappy speedpaint, but i wouldn't feel right slapping some on on a zorn study, I'm sure there's a better way

Dat still life is so crazy, the speculars are very well done and the onions are well-rendered with economical brushstrokes
As for your digital studies, maybe experiment with making your own brushes? sample some filbert brushstrokes, and change the attributes for more interesting edges, thats how I would approach it, otherwise, wat tehmeh said

Aberzheim i head about that! just crazy... did you paint the floods?! xD
flurry winter with no snow to landscape is chritmas without lights, maybe travel to somewhere that does?!! next year ...
joshualyness i strongly disagree, composition, proportion, value, overall shapes etc... is way more important than details, details only serve to enhance and detail alone make no picture =)

Your pencil sketches feel very alive and full of movement.
I also really like how dark your paintings are but sometimes you tend to go too dark too fast. The three-dimensionality of your paintings could greatly improve by differentiating between dark and very dark. I hope you understand what I mean^^
Keep up the great work!
