Woohoo! Looking good Andy :) I've perused your portfolio before and am constantly impressed. This is no exception. I would however offer a bit of a crit. I realize that this artic creature is coming through the forest, but the tree trunk in front of him is such high contrast in comparison to it, that the creature loses it's dominance a bit. I had to refocus on what I was looking at for a sec :/

I do like that you're breaking the plane with it's arm but the opposite side looks a bit off in comparison with the abrupt edge to the right. Altogether beautifully done, but composition seems to be the one thing holding it back.

Keep em comin!

This is fantastic man. I actually like that tree being in the forefront. I like that I had to refocus my eyes...makes the impression that it is hiding and ready to strike...for me at least. Great work man. Quick question...do you use crowquills...if you do can you suggest a good brand of nib, ink, etc...

saltydog- thanx for the C&C...I was trying to keep the contrast pretty low on the creature...though yeah, some more shading toward the back of the creature would probably help ...and the right edge could have been done better

GhostofMacbeth- Nah, I just haven't posted much lately

MindCandyMan-actually i use micron pens...I have tried 102 crows, though I'm kinda just used to the microns... a nib would take a little getting use to

here' another one from that set of monsters I posted if you haven't had a chance to see the web site.

Fantastic...man I can't get enough of these! I'm even more impressed that you only use microns...there are places that read as a smooth widening of the line (like a crow quill) so you really know how to use those pens! Just goes to show its all about skills and not about the tools you use. Great stuff man. I have to say as well that I love the figure but the cross behind him is really cool to me...the way you rendered it's texture and structure...awesome.

The first one is great. Especially the way the creature is integrated to its environment.
