View Full Version : Concept Art Needed for Feature Film Project

Hello,

Longtime listener, first-time caller. I'm not an illustrator myself but have often enjoyed browsing through various art projects shared here, like the Guild Wars concept art. I've read up on job posting etiquette, so I hope I'll do this right.

This is a freelance job.
Telecommuting is completely fine. I heart the Internets.

I'm in need of concept art pieces to accompany a script I'm writing on assignment for Jerry Bruckheimer Films. This project is inspired by the science fiction novel The Host. It's set in a future world with elements of Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, and Minority Report. This concept art would demonstrate why this world is different/unique, and will save me valuable script real estate otherwise relegated to lengthy written descriptions.

By current count I'll need art for 5-8 pieces ranging from vehicles to landscapes to technology. No character work, at least not at this time.

These pieces will be packaged with the screenplay (with your credit) to the producers at JBF. If they like what they see, odds are that you'll be rehired to collaborate with the director for more paid work on the project. Not that this is a guarantee, but it's a possibility.

Since this first round of art is coming out of my pocket, I have a limited budget and would appreciate quotes. Looking for artists with samples and experience doing concept work in a SF setting.

EDIT: The position is now filled. Thank you all for your interest. Note that while I stated a few days ago in post #9 that I wasn't accepting more applications I still got a steady stream, so I will hang onto everyone's contact information for the next time.

Thanks,
Eric

Email sent Eric... looking forward to hearing more about your project.

I have one question (for now):

What is the timeframe for these illustrations, when would you need them completed?

Excellent question! I knew I'd overlooked something.

The timeframe/deadline for this project is 4 weeks. I would need the pieces by December 1. If I request additional pieces we can figure out a separate timeframe for them. Barring any problems on my end I should have made my decision this coming Tuesday, 7 November.

If you've emailed me, be patient. I'm reviewing a lot of samples now. This forum is like the Justice League of illustration.

P.S. To answer a popular question I'm getting via email, the director currently but unofficially attached (at least until a script is delivered) is Chris Nolan. Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone who's responded.

At this time I have more than enough applicants and portfolios to view, so I'm not accepting any more submissions for this project. But don't worry, if you missed out on this chance, there will be more in the future.

Thanks again,
Eric
