Well, been working on this all day and am [retty happy with how it turned out. Maybe not really the "finished" piece because he is going to eventually go into something else I have been working on.. but this character is done at least.

Let me know what you think.

wow--youve translated your wild pen and ink style into color quite successfully

well done

personally the blue outline stands out a little too much for my taste

give us a BG and youll have a mighty fine piece

It looks quite good...but somehow as tyboogie said the blue line irritates...also i am not happy with the undefined little areas on the head...

...i love the flesh colors and the rendering of the sword...

technically not bad, though his "shineyness" flattens him somewhat, and his right hand looks like it could be somebody else's...

Thanks..

tyboogie - Thanks :) You'll see this on a background :D I am kind of slow at finishing things though :( but they do get finished :D..
The blue highlight is perhaps a little much.. I was especially unsure if it belonged on his right hand more than anywhere else. I am still undecided about it.

Fozzybar (aka.. Foz or Fozzy. Not used to using your full name ;) ) - Thanks for the comments. Glad you like. When making the sword especially I wondered if you'd like it. You commented on another sword I'd done and I wondered if this was up to snuff. Glad it is!
I understand what you mean about those little areas. I started laying down solid fields of color on his face to define highlights and then probably went overboard.

kenford - I have been experimenting with trying out some really extreem lighting and I think the shineyness is kind of a by-product of that.. or maybe not.
I understand what you mean about it being kind of flat. Probably is.. probably a result of painting in a very flat manner for a number of years :) just starting to add a little more depth to my pictures. I do hope that the lighting brings him out though.
.. the hand. Not sure what to say about that. Perhaps I cropped it too close to the wrist? I've thought it might look like it was floating too much too but then decided that given it's relationship to this character, it translated as his pretty well..

Thanks all, for taking the time. Thanks for the crits/comments.. given me a bit to think about :D

there's something SO appealing about this character. I had been wondering how you would color your ink drawings. Looks very very good.

In my opinion you have a very unique style.

Great stuff

hey, oggy...;)

Actually i didn't mean the face...i was referring to the (fore)head...i don't know if there is a helmet, hair or anything else...the face is good!

Keep it up!

Thank you Kortez :D

Still trying to develop but I am happy with these new expiriments so far. Feels good to be excited about your own work instead of feeling like your stagnating (like I did for too long). I find myself creating these shapes and colors wanting to see what happens next. Gotta keep pushing it I guess..

Well, rambling now...

Thanks again.

Edit: Yo Fozzy! Just posted a reply at the same time as you ;) yeah, I knew that you meant the hair. I just meant that after finishing the face I started using those shapes in the hair. Probably used the simple coloring too much.

My wife had a funny reaction when she saw me working on the hair.. "That's hair? Doesn't look like hair.. looks like a helmet" she said. :D I think she liked it better when it was all done but, even then, she still thought it needed more work up there too. I am sure ya'all are right :D

'nother Edit: I think I see what you mean. The forehead has a huge undefined area. Almost like there is no foehead. I was trying togive the head a weird angle and didn't define the area of the hairline. Is that what you meant? If not, I just noticed something else that bothers me..

.. yet another Edit: I added a few whisps of hair and extended the left side of the forhead up slightly to try and blend the hairline. Dont know if it has fixed the problem but I am going to look at it a bit more I tink...

:D well, there is something there that I need fix.. but looking away from it for a few might help me figure out how to fix it.
