The arara portrait looks nice. Good colors. Make sure to pay enough attention to the eye and the rest of the head; they are very important for the expression of the image. Keep on going.

that parrot you painted looks really nice it has nice colors going on for it, and the brushstrokes used to add feather texture is workin. The dragon man needs a little work though. ( http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=44364&stc=1&d=1162528876 ) He feels to me like he needs to be sharpened up a bit. It also looks like your a bit unsure of the anatomy of him in some places. u should maybe go on google and try and find people in similar poses, or use a digital camera and do the pose yourself. it wont really help you learn anatomy but it can help you get it right, it's just that the way the dragon guy is right now, just feels like it needs a few more finishing touches. keep on truckin.

I'm finding it a real pain to do ref studies on the computer - rather side by side. The setup is one thing, but having the subject so close and easy to compare to is demoralizing for me haha. I rarely get past the block in...

Anyways, parrot is looking good! Colors are good and some good textures. I don't want to be a dick, you're doing great and should finish this puppy up - however shape and proprotion wise there are a few errors. I haven't seen this in process - so I can only guess. You might use a grid to help with the initial block in, cheating? no - crutches? perhaps, but crutches help people walk eventually. Grids are used traditionaly even. You might also block in general color shapes like his orange belly by squinting for the overall shape and the refine little by little. Get the basic shape and gesture down and then move on or you're asking for trouble I thinks.

I'm just rambling ... reffed work is hard stuffs. Keep it up! Cheers.

I like post 18 alot! That first image is a very interesting design, almost mask-like. Keep working the color stuff. The colors are still isolating themselves. In the last image, you reflect purple onto the face, which is good. Although skin tones, whether of an alien or human, have hundreds of color changes (variations in hue, chroma, and value). Although, the color changes will be subtle and they should sit quietly within general color shapes. The yellow eyes would reflect subtle purples in the lower left part of the eye, where it rounds down and so on. The values are good, but don't be afraid to neutralize area's. Anyway, whenever I'm struggling with an area, I tend to look at lots of art and spend less time actually working. Whenever I have trouble with anatomy I will look at Rubens', Tinterreto's, bridgeman's, and Marko's work. So you should check out Sargent, Velazquez, El Coro, etc. Pay attention to the color changes in their portraits. Always compare yourself to the best, that way you will never be satisfied with your work. Hope this helps!
