doesn't anyone have a tutorial on Gouache paint/INk wash- I seen El Coro's excellent tutorial but its more geared for people who have a firm understanding of the media. For me I never touched any sort of traditional art (only digital) and it's something I really want to explore and understand.

I'm still going to go to my local library and pick up a few books but I was curious if anyone had an excellent tutorial on it?

I think you should buy some of the famous materials (Letraset Inks for example, http://www.letraset.com for resellers, and prismacolor pencils, some ordinary gouache paint, 150g/mē paper etc.) and draw and test a lot :)

This way is probably the easiest and it's fun, too.
I picked up some of those Letraset Tria markers and its my favourite media so far. I need to do Acrylics and Gouache... just test everything and you'll find the best media for you.

my tut is pretty simple and straightforward actually. i dont even touch on color mixing and brushwork. if you could see it done you would be pretty suprised at how easy it really is. i teach a nightly workshop at my work, and i've got animators and programmers doing it flawlessly, and some of them had never made a finished piece of artwork in their lives. if you have ever painted in photoshop or painter, you are marvelously prepared to try the ink wash gouache technique. if a programmer can do it, you most certainly can. i dont know how much more rudimentary one could get, aside from "squeeze tube and make paint come out onto pallette, mix with water, pick up that stick with the hairs coming out on one end, rub the hairs into the paint...ect" if you guys have any suggestions as to how i could make a better tut, please share. i'd also be curious to how ron does his...so, ron, if you're out there....DO A TUT DUDE!-c36

Good stuff, I had seen your tutorial along time ago, but it didn't even come to mind when I picked up the gouache. I have been reading over it and, you're right, it is pretty easy. Lots of good info packed into a nice little step by step. Thanks a lot. I also would enjoy a short tutorial from ron....the little pieces he did in his sketchbook were riduculously detailed and a short tutorial on all his tricks would be awesome. Thanks a lot guys for the help.

if youre just getting started, why not leave the tutorials aside and explore in a more hands on way. just play with the materials for a bit and DONT BE SELF-CONSCIOUS ... try not to have preconceptions for a piece...try not to have your mind fixed to a precise goal of what you want the paint to look like... because chances are it will look different from the was you want and youll become frusrated. save teh books and tutorials for when youre more used to hows teh paints and teh brushes actually feel like... ever scribbled around in Ps7 or painter 8 and end up wih something really cool looking? i guess thats close to what i mean.
