Hey everyone,

Having recently visited the site to Ernest Adams’ 50 Books for Game Designers, I thought this would be a great opportunity to procrastinate on my homework and attempt to compile a more concentrated list for aspiring concept artists :)

If you think a hugely important book is missing or you are familiar with better alternatives, feel free to reply here and I’ll edit the list. I’m trying to pare this down to the broad fundamentals and get people on the right track, especially beginners. Supplemented with figure model classes, respectable teachers of any kind, and studies on additional subjects, you will be well on your way. I hope this will be helpful to all of you!

I. Figure Drawing & Artistic Anatomy

F. Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist by Stephen Rogers Peck
G. The Human Figure by John H. Vanderpoel
H. Strength Training Anatomy by Frederic Delavier

II. Fundamentals of Drawing and Painting

A. Drawing with an Open Mind by Ted Seth Jacobs
B. Light for the Artist by Ted Seth Jacobs
