hey everybody! remember me? sorry i haven't posted in a while, but i've been hit with the big preproduction slam at work, and things have been kinda crazy lately. still painting, though. here is a 24x76 inch oil on canvas i completed recently. i laid it out in photoshop, and painted from that. it was a fun color mixing exercise, as i painted this all opaquely, and faked the transparency. hope you like.

another great piece, Coro... Very well done... :)

How did the exhibition with the huge 'grafittipainting guy in the foreground and parking lot in the background' painting go, btw? just curious... :)

This is sick! I love the detail, and the crazy colors. You are definetely a master at this.

Will you be contributing to your daily sketches now? ;)

hey bro :)

you make painting that shit look so easy... like: no long years of practise, master copy, rules to learn and endless discipline, just put the f'in paint on the f'in canvas. i envy you.

i played with the thought on e-mailing you about ink stuff since you didn't post often.
thanks for the heads-up on sumi brushes you once gave me - i had a cheap one (plastic stuff) that didn't really satisfy me. last time shopping, i bought me a larger, better one and damn, you are right... i can't get enough of that. i don't even know what i want to draw most of the time, i just want to feel ink flowing out of it under my hand. :) thanks man.

I dont understand your use of photoshop in this oil painting though...if you have the time, would you mind explaining?

Lots of good movement and structure in the painting--the two dominant diagonals and the two strong horizontal elements in the top left and bottom right.

This has a very graphic feel for a painting. It's funny. It's almost like you're doing flyer and promotional graphics and layouts in paint. It's really starting to mess with my head.

I think a lot of that has to do with the subject matter. It's not every day you see DJ'ing and its imagery rendered with this way.

I'd like to see a stronger separation between the elements in the painting--make the images stand out more as opposed to having them blend together. The right side of the painting in particular is a bit muddled and doesn't have the clarity of the rest of the painting.

thanka to everyone who replied. as always, i appreciate the feedback
blackhand: thanks dude. i'm trying to push myself always, and this is a fun new way to render in paint for me. you know what, the right side of the painting is significantly darker in the pic because the window was on the left when i set it up. theres actually more detail in the painting. i'll try to reshoot/repost.

tegehel: thanks, man. you've been doing some pretty killer shit yourself, player.

cotron: thanks, man. i'm definitely having fun with this. i'm sure i'l be doing more.

tyboogie : SHIIIIIIITTTTT!!!! i doubt it, but thanks for the thought ;)

keyth: thnx

amphex: i make the composite in photoshop, out of reference pics i've snapped, then i print it out and use it for reference, as if it were a photo. hope this makes better sense. i have a bad habit of underexplaining my process sometimes.

gekitsu: hey, it WAS years and years of thankless practice! i swear, nobody gave two shits about coro a few years ago:)
anyway, i'm glad the brush pen is working out for you, keep it up, and if you ever have any ?'s feel free to drop me a line.\

dilation: thanks, man

I.was.ink: gracias. you know, i've been doing all kinds of shit in my sketchbook, but they are all super top secret right now for the game i'm hard at work on. i'll be posting some shit very soon , though.

Szyslack: :)

Boom : thanks alot man. and thanks for asking about the show. it went pretty well. didnt sell much, but it was a great venue to show my work to a lot of people. and they all loved the graffiti piece, which i was thankful for.

thanbks again to all who replied.-c36

Really great piece.

Perhaps the hand underneath and to the right of the turntable sticks out a little bit.... kinda like it's floating there. But it isn't jarring at all.

Great work. I admire good painters.
