]Hello, this is my first post on these boards. I am 16 years old and live in New York. Ive been doing some drawings and finally got to scanning them in. If anybody has any critique on the composition or advice on how i could color it (im very new to the pen tablet thing) i would greatly appreciate it.

The style is cute.
What is the story you are trying to tell? I can't figure out anything from the composition.
Is that a rainbow on top, a tree branch? It's very distracting and leads my eye right off the picture. Plan out the composition a bit before diving right in. Unless this is supposed to be an acid trip family photo. Then, kindly ignore everything I've said.
The characters do seem kinda interesting. Tell me more :.

Oh no, for some reason a bit of the left side was cut off....yes it is suppost to be a rainbow. Im to scared to color it for fear i will screw the picture up. One of my main problems is i never plan a picture out. I started with a doodle of the chinese man...and i just started adding things.....i tried my best to balance things out by adding details in certain places, but i feel like that took away from the picture.
As for the story, i was planning on making a small comic about an asian man and his partner pedro's adventure through china. On the way they meet a chipmunk, and an evil panda. Then they save mario.....*pedro is the odd looking fellow*
oh, and might anybody have any advice on how i could paint this? I have a wacom tablet and painter 8...i just do not know how to use the program..

Before you get into the comic, get into the habit of thumbnails, they save buttloads of time and make everything all better.
There's a Painter section on this forum with tutorials and such. You can also learn alot from just messing around with the manual open.

The image still looks good if you just crop the whole rainbow thing out... just a thought
Anyways- you don't have to color the original, you can use the magic of photoshop/painter programs to paint a copy - Photo copy the original, or just trace it. original saved and you can color it 42 times :D
