I think you should use larger brushes and a smother technique, as right now everything is looking pretty scribbly. Good start though :)

Thx for the reply. I will take your info into consideration for the 3rd page. Hopefully I will have progressed by the 10th page or so.

One thing you can try to adopt too is to keep in mind the atmosphere you are in. In your scenes above you have a lot of fire/lava, so in turn you would have a smoky, hazy feel to the environment. So the background would fade off and the foreground should pop out more.

Also, keep in mind the color of your shadows. If your light is a saturated warm, then your shadows so have a cool, unsaturated feel. Don't overdo it, but some elements of that theory should help make things seem more dynamic.

Good luck. Metroids always been one of my favorite games since I was a lil kid on the original Nintendo...

Thx, Shadoman. I recall hearing about the shadows having the opposite feel as the light source in school but I forgot about it until u mentioned it. I will have to consider all that you have said and try to think more in terms of color relationships which is something I have never used a lot.
I hope to do Metroid some justice just for fun and fans like us.
