I m reading "Songs of Susannah" right now and I can say your Roland is pretty much what I imagined him like but there is 2 things I have to critic on, the perspective of the gun is a bit off, but not by much
and the second thing is that Roland is a bit older, he has seen and gone thru a lot in his life so he should be a bit more wrinkled. The dark area on his neck should be also on the right of his face and nose.
As for the towers, they are pretty nice
good job

Those are pretty sweet, I'm gonna be smoked so harsh, oh well. I can't post anything until I have use of a scanner becuase I will have to be doing either acrylics or watercolours or some damn good pens. unless I do a damned thing with a mouse... nah.
And you're almost twice my age with probably more than twice the experience (assuming you are 31 as your profile said).

You should definitly turn this negative energy in your drawings
And you are young, now is the time to start being serious and not begin in 10 years when you wish you had 10 years before like I did heheheh

Is how we deal with people we disagree with now? We have a TDome? Its seems like they've became the CA equivalent of flexing your muscles to win over the crowd. Maybe I missed something, but it just seems childish way to settle your differences. Especially when its been settled that its a one-sided challenge. But hey, thats me. Good luck to both of you. I hope you achieve what ever it is you are aiming for.

Im pretty sure we will, Its called HAVING FUN. Perhaps you've heard of the term. Try it sometime, you might make a friend or something.
and yes jp apologized to me already and yes I picked on jp, but just to teach him a lesson about manners, the lesson though is yet to be taught as he could still woop my firm, manly buttocks (sorry- just prepping up for that ManAlive calendar)
V0rbiss, whatcha think on this one??

Sorry, the Dark Tower series is about the only thing I've read, so I'm somewhat of a fanboy. That being said: where's the field of crimson roses? or if you prefer the academic way of posing the question--what's your motivation for leaving the field of crimson roses out?

JLAlfaro, with your piece I feel that you haven't read the series...which for someone who started the series back in 4th grade, and kept with it until a couple years ago when the last book was released...makes me a little sad.
I mean, sure you have a cowboy and a tower...but it sure isn't Stephen King's Dark Tower.
jp, as the topic chooser--I'm anxiously awaiting your entry ^^

I agree with what you've said about the Tower and Roland, but you can't really fault JLAlfaro for it if he hasn't read it --it was JP's topic after all.

What I like in an ilustration, is to see the artist's interpretation of the subject covered. I heaven't read those books, but I surely can tell that JLA isn't putting his sincere personal view, maybe because he doesn't have one(haven't read the books too? :D )or I'm terribly wrong and he just isn't good enough to express it. :xpld: <3 That's extremely personal thing tho, so take all of that with a shitload of salt.../m\
The last one is by far the most unoriginal and non-personal of the bunch.:perv:
You asked for it, so I'm ripping your firm manly buttocks apart!(I am too preparing for the calendar tdome, nothing peronal  )

No prob v0rbiss, thats why we post our stuff-right? and NO I have NOT read the darktower series. Even though King is one of my fav writers, I never got into it. So I have no idea what or who or where its going on. I googled it, read a paragraph or two on it and winged it.
Well maybe if I knew a bit more on the subject Id be able to create something a bit more expressive of the subject, I was hoping you guys would look at the illustration and not a visual representation of the story, cause...I dont know it. Dammit, I guess not.
I must say though, that so far I have done 5-6 speedpaintings, about 10 - 15 sketches, 2 drawings, and one large painting(up there), It has been fun working on these, and Ive learned a thing or two about sky palettes, and found a very interesting story to follow.(which is soon to be a movie) but they always masacre Kings' movies) Hey if anyone wants to throw me a bone and tell me what the story is feel free to do so, drop me an email or pm, thanks guys.

I still have a week, more than enough time to pull a big GRANDE shit out of my tight, sexy buttocks.
Neither did I, apparently, have a clue of how to spell, "properly".

That tower is looking pretty nice man, I have no idea whats going on with the naked dude and the such on the other sketch( cause I dont know the story) but I think youd be better off with the tower. thats IMO, though...post your progress, maybe we can gve you some pointers...

I havent read the books either. but my response to you illustration is that the tower is kinda cool,,, but the cowboy and the lanscape are so trite as to to be a total cliche' you obviously have the capabilty of making something outstanding. but to do so with this illustration it would need major layout and compositional changes. It looks like the center is waiting for the movie titles to roll.
Hebbel. get it together! theres nothing here yet to get a grip on.... you can do it! stop trash talking start drawing! what is the defineing moment of the book? why tower? who is this Roland dude, what makes him unique? get to work!
