I've never been big into comics, had a few when I was young, but never collected. I started reading Ultimate Spider-Man just a while back and got hooked on it. I just finished issue 100 and man it was good!! I love how they've changed the stories of every character. Has anyone else read the series? Anyone else read anything consistently?

I used to read Spiderman a lot when I was a kid/teen, just loved it. Right now I'm reading "Y: The last man" and "The walking dead", both are great and I hope more "serious" comics like these will keep appearing in the future. I think that a comic book in general is such a great media to bring forward great stories with relatively small budgets.

JMS (Straczynski) is writing Spiderman right now, right? I would so elect that guy president if I could. If there was a nuclear apocalypse, I would go and join his last holdout of civilization. Amazing guy. His Image series is out in TPB, called Rising Stars.

Only thing I'm reading right now is BPRD. I think it's so badass since they got Guy Davis to come in and do a consistent style. I almost like how he draws the backup characters better than how Mignola does... <3

And then there's always the DC/Marvel binge where I go and camp at Borders' Books and read them all. Identity Crisis was the only one that was really memorable, but that one was wicked, like Watchmen Lite or something.

I used to read Ultimate Spider-Man. But it's so hard for me to find new issues where I live. I try to keep up with buying the trades. People can debate Brian Michael Bendis' writing skills, but I think he's an exciting writer. If you want more Bendis, check out Powers. It's the one of the best books out there.

There's a lot more out there than Spidey! Plant your ass for a couple of hours in the graphic novel section and prepare to be inspired!

b.p.r.d is great. Although I'm not too into comics. The issues of FLIGHT are absolutely awesome. Do love those.

I just statted reading Ultimate Spider-Man, and I like it a lot so far. I am not as far into it as you yet. I have been buying the hardcover editions and I am just finishing up book 2. I really want to check out Ultimate X-Men. I used to read comics a lot when I was younger but just started trying to get back into them recently. Some other books I want to check out are.

The walking dead
Sandman
Hellboy

Question what is b.p.r.d?

There are a bunch of trades out by George Pratt and Kent Williams that are just fun reads. Anyone of them is good and of course the art work is a feast for the eyes. I think Williams' just had a new graphic novel published by DC not too long ago.

wendy and richard pini's "elf quest". (first 20) god i love that series.
used to read some spiderman back in the days, but despite loving it i never really got into it,mostly because we don't have a local comic book store and i like to read series from beginning to end,not somewhere in the middle.

Hit up anything published by Vertigo Comics (http://www.dccomics.com/vertigo/), and you're bound to find a goldmine in there somewhere. Preacher, Lucifer, DMZ, Fables, Sandman...
I also have a guilty pleasure reading McFarlane's Spawn too ;)

Also, Humanoids Publishing (http://www.humanoidspublishing.com/) has a pretty sweet range going, they publish a lot of European comics which have a different flair to most US comics. Rather neat, actually, and some really sweet art and stories to show.

On Marvel stuff...OH OH OH I just got the old Wolverine/Havok: Meltdown mini run of 4 issues off eBay, in great condition. The art is fantastic. Check the cover pic of number 3. The interior art is like that the whole way through. I wish there were more comics like this in the Marvel lines (not that I don't like solids lines either, though). And the old Strange Tales Werewolf By Night run from 1998 has terriffic-sweet inked art inside by Leonardo Manco, it's wonderful.

Okay nerd-mode off now :p
