Aaiight y'all

Here are four character concepts for a fighting / puzzle game I'm working on with a greek developer.

We really wanted to go for the larger than life "Capcom" sort of look.

In order they are...

Shiro (Fire) - Hot headed yakuza biker

Rebekha (Water) - Valiant Tae Kwon Do heroine

Leander (Air) - Cocky Wushu player

Yang Shao Hou (Earth) - Wacky old Taiji wizard

Let me know if you think the backgrounds are too distracting - they can be changed in a jiffy.

Cheers

You have a nice style, but the anatomy looks a little off on some areas, like the third character from the top, his stomach looks kinda wierd. Also, that looks like a very vulnerable stance to be in when you fight (or whatever he is doing).

Hi, nice work overall. Proportion and anatomy problems aside (yes, there are some), I think the main problem is the design of these characters. While they are not badly drawn or expressed their character all seem a little "been there done that". From the punk tights, boots and belts to the karate garbs, I think everyone has seen many characters just like these before. Designing with a director over your shoulder is one thing though...having creative freedom is sometimes another.

I rather like these.

#2 and #4 work best for me personally.

wow, these are super dope! You really nailed the Capcom look, but not in a total knock off way. Love the colour schemes, especially the old man. Great poses too. Couple crits, I'd tweak the elipse on the red orb closest to the viewer on the yakuza guy's boot (plus he might be bit TOO kaneda-ish), and the old man's right hand is too big. It's larger than the foreground hand and if anything it should be smaller. Lastly, I'm not too sure about the detailing on Leander's abs. I know you weren't suggesting he has like twelve abs but it looks a bit like that and if they are folds of skin, those generally occur only around the navel even when the trunk is quite bent. Overall though, these pieces are very impressive and impactful. Good job!
