Hi everyone.
It's been quite some time now since i last posted, but I need your help ;-)
This is a pic i just finished, but I'm not quite satisfied with the effect.. and I don't know what to do with it. I have problems with colors, and painting evening snow is just too hard for me :]
So here comes the pic:

Sorry I don't know much about digital painting but I wanted to comment that this piece brings me back to being a little kid and I love the idea of the piece.
Best of luck with it!

For painting something like a snowstorm you want to gather as much reference as possible, use the web and books if you want and gather as much reference as possibe you want to gather as much information as possible to what you are trying to do. I think that is something that will help you in the long run.
On the character his left hand is a bit big. but other than that its not a bad piece the tones look even overall. Just keep at it you will improve!!

is the light coming from behind + above the character?
looking at the shadow of the chest and pants I would also add shadow to the cap/helmet. and prehaps it should cast a little more shadow on the snow too?
Also, i think the sword would create some blue light onto the right glove.
love the mood !

With this kind of snow storm, the ambient light would have very little saturation. Your blue in the sky really detracts from the feeling of a raging blizzard. Dropping the sky to a noisy, muted grey would also make his lightsaber pop, and allow you to add lighting effects from that.
