Did anybody attend the James Jean workshop? I'd love to hear about it, as I'm sure everyone on the site would. Anyone?

That's freaking right, I attended!
It was soo cool, and I learned a ton of things from him.
He uses the layer properties and layer options in photoshop like crazy!
He showed us a couple of tricks here and there.
He'll print out his linework and does rough watercolors ontop of em for texture.
He'll also scan in textures of papers and all sorts of other things that he uses in his pieces.
The originals are MIND BLOWING!!!
Everything from the drawings to the paintings were exquisite.
He also showed us some other work he hasn't posted anywhere else.
All in alll, it was a great experience, and I can't wait to go to another event of his.

Definitely a good workshop!
One thing that stuck out in my mind was when he mentioned that the majority of the time to finish a piece is spent on thumbnails and finding good color relationships. He seemed to really like playing around with different layer blending modes, shifting here and there until he got the effect he was after.
Getting to look at all the originals was worth the price alone.
Near the end he also did some live figure drawing from a model.. while he was drawing I noticed he was concentrating less on accurate proportions and more on the fluidity and feeling of the pose and getting the character of the model down. They were all fairly quick poses though.. 1-5 mins each.
I.was.ink, if that's you in your avatar there then I'm pretty sure I saw you.

So was he doing the color preliminaries in Photoshop and did the blending then or did that phase come later?
