Hey everyone,

I know there's about a million and a half new photo threads so I'm almost reluctant to add another to the pile but I'm gonna do it anyway

Anyway, these were all taken with a D70 over the past year or so. I'll add more later if you guys like em. I tried to get a good mix of stuff with this first batch.

comments, crits, etc are very welcome!

thanks guys.

hey there, and first of all welcome to CA!
that's a really good start of your thread here, i especially like the last one - the color palette is interesting there, i think and the green reflection on the guitar kind of "melts" fore- and background together. dof is very nice there, too.
second favourite is the leaves in the water-pic. it could use slightly more contrast, i think, but other that that i like it a lot.
the first photo is a real eye-catcher and the dark tree stretches very nicely over the whole photo, so composition wise i like that - dunno exactly what distracts me a little about it, maybe it's the harsh white in the sky. anyway, it shows that you know how to set up a photo.
the only ones i can't really connect with are the guy at the damn (that's a funny idea, but the photo looks more like a snapshot) and the buildings. the latter has nice colors and i like the reflection in the windows, but it makes me a little seasick. but i'm just obsessed with straight horizon lines, so that's probably a very personal taste. :)

any reason why you are using various different frames? that's nothing really important, but it just made me wonder...
and: are you shooting in RAW? cause if not, you should definetely give it a try. it's a lot of fun and you can control your pictures way more than in jpg.

would like to see the other photos you "promised", gotta hurry now...

thanks for the reply stine!

yes, I do shoot in RAW. I'd like to have as much control over my photos as I can.

I never thought about it much until now but i kinda agree with you that 3 could use some contrast adjustments.

Maybe I like the picture of my friend at the dam more because of my personal attachment (such a fun day) than it actually being a good photo.

About the frames: it mainly depends on the edges of the photo. I don't like when black or white spots on the edges blend into the border. Having a nice frame that stands out from the picture is pretty important to me. And for the ones that have the double border, I use the thinner line to make border distinct. In #7 for example, the larger black border fits the image much better than a big white one but i need that small white line to separate the border from the image. I'm sure that was more explaining needed but oh well =)

Here's a few more shots.
