This piece is called a portrait of my sister. It is oil, paper cut outs, and rabbit fur on canvas.

the one thing id say is that theres no composition. theres no flow for my eye to follow. everything is just kinda scattered around, and it makes it unpleasing to the eye to look at.

work on the composition more and these would be loads better

i agree, although the first one does have a focal point that everything comes too.

in all of these you are basically doing the exact same thing, a gradiadted type of sky to horizon, and a few arbitrary rounded shapes and lines placed a bit randomly around the picture. You havent given alot of thought to a visual heiarchy, which goes along with the comments that you should work on your composition.

The best people in the business would completely disagree with all of you. bla bla bla

Oh good grief. What are you here for, if not to hear the input of the other members? We don’t give a hooey what hood represents you. We’re here to help each other, and you’ve gone and rejected that help six hours after asking for it. If you want a cheering audience, then go to http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/. Conceptart.org is a place of learning, not a pez dispenser of praise.

I also feel the need to say that taking really thin paint and letting it run down a canvas then turning the canvas so it makes the drips into an abstract shape has to be the cheapest "effect". It just screams lack of ability. It is a gimmick, its the equivelant to a lense flare.

and who deleted his response? I see it quoted, or did he do that himself?

It does look quite dali-esque. I think it's a shame that the composition is so scattered- It could have a lot more impact.

how is everything scattered? and how does it lack a focal paint? everything is neatly organized if you asked me. you got structures on the left side and youve got structures on the right side. youve got fur lined up a neat row on the bottom and some figure like thing nearly in the center, where as the musical objects and lines all point the white glowing orb.

its not scattered. and it has a focal point. your eye goes to the glowing orb.

infact, my critique is just the oppisite. I think this composition is tooo balanced and it could be more interesting if one side of the canvas was heavier than the other
