An image I just finished.
Originally it was intended to be dynamic, but I failed miserably and all the action in it dripped away as I was working on it.
nonetheless, I would like to have some crit about it :)

the only thing that confuses me is: don't wolves hunt in the evening rather? this seems like it's early morning, which causes it to look very calm and nice.
i still like it very much though, maybe just because it makes me feel calm (and maybe because i've been in sweden in winter afew times).

It is very nice. Romantic nature vistas is not my cup of tea though. Took the liberty to manipulate some to show what I think is the worst problem. On the issue of action I'd say that you should have a lower horizon to involve the viewer more. Perhaps the trees give you too strong vertikal lines. They could be more merged into the forest so the forest as a whole gives a better diagonal line.
Here my hasty contrast issue "paintover"

Carnifex:
know what? I don't know when they hunt. All I find in the texts I've read is what they hunt...:frustrated:
nedd to get more info..
Carnalizer:
mmh, I did a fast color correction in painter and I have to admit your solution let the wolves pop up more, far more.
a pity, I liked the fact those trees with their blackness were somewhat encircling the wolves. If I find enough time&will to work more on it seriously, I'll give it a try. ;)

Good eyes Carnalizer!
Something to make it more dynamic...it looks like the paw of the wolf is touching the deer...why not have the deer reacting to that? I think by having him/her look back with a panicked expression might give the image some more urgency.

I found this picture a really nice work!
Also, I think that you should listen Carnalizer's advice and put more contrast in that front scene where's the action because it will improve drama a lot.
Wolves are hunting when they're hungry, so if it's day or night is really irrelevant. Also clear, sunny daylight is giving some very nice mood to the action and scenery so I wouldn't change that at all.
This piece is one of my favourite this week and I'm sad that you didn't attract more attention cause you really deserve it.
(It is also refreshing to see some nice "traditional" painting motives here in a bunch of monsters, mutants, spaceships, unnatural habitats, unknown things and etc)
Cheers.

I will surely work more on it, trying to apply Carnalizer's suggestion.
But I want it done well, so it'll take some time since I can't right now:\
I was thinking of adding some golden atmospheric haze to reduce those trees contrast
