I don't actually draw that much, these are just sketches to help me survive through class. To be honest, as much as I love Melville and Austen, sitting through lectures about said authors is not something I love.

But, here's my little doodles, just don't tell my English profs please! :S

This is just a brief sketch, I haven't added faces or details on a lot of the characters, but I like the entire like-a-mug-shot-but-in-a-family-kind-of-way scene. It always makes me laugh, but it does help keep the size perspective in who is taller than who and what not.

I so need to find a size ratio sketch to keep everything orginized! :^^:

The second one is Subaru-chan, I like how she turned out better. I seem to always like my pen sketches better, something about how rough they look, but how expressive they are.

An English and Social Studies major, actually. I wasn't any good at any art outside of stick people until I started college and had to sit through three and four hour lectures about some minute phrasing of some sentence in a book I was probably never going to read again. ^.^;

How do I get the images to be vertical? They're vertical on my computer, but the upload manager loves to put them horizonal, unfortunatly. It sucks, and I don't know how to fix that on these boards.


These are sketches from one English class, and a boring lecture about internet usage in elementary classrooms earlier today. Tech classes are soooo boring sometimes, especially when you can't test out of them. *groan*

These are a few sketches from the infamous Intensive-Burns-Unit.

I apologize for the bad English lit joke, don't kill me, please! o.o

I love the first sketch, I'm probably going to try and find some of that black sketch paper and scratch the image into it in white. And possibly try to re-sketch it on regular art paper, but I suck at drawing without notebook lines, so I don't think that will turn out well. But I do love the shading, I think I'm finally getting the hang of it! ^.^

The second sketch is more of a story than a sketch, I can type it up if anyone likes. It's more of a drabble than anything else.

The third sketch was my attempt at a badly futuristic robot... and then I added a little winged child for the robot to baby sit. I don't think you can read it in the photo, but the little girl is asking to have cookies for lunch. ^.^ I watched far too much Ergo Proxy for my own good, that's for sure!

A little bit anime-isque for my taste, but as long as it's tastefuly done I'm okay with it. Draw, draw, and draw and thats all there is to it really. And try some paper without lines please, keep drawing though you will improve.

biggest recomendations right now are to drop the lined paper, study up on anatomy and proportions and watch your line quality.

since you're doing these in class you can just bring in a lined notebook with some plain white copier paper stuck inside, it's how I got through the entirety of highschool and as long as you look like you're paying attention you should be able to get away with it.

all of your figures look very lanky, an easy way to do this is to just pick up a drawing anatomy book or draw from life and notice things like the length of limbs relative to other parts of the body, again if you're drawing in class you have plenty of other people stuck in one place in the room you can use as models, so long as you don't mind drawing people from behind it's a great way to get some life drawings in.

Half the reaosn the pen lines look so rough is because I love the rough sketch style it appears like in real life, the other half is that my pens usually die half way through something, so I'm just running everything double to make it appear.

But I'll be getting an artbook to sketch in now, and I'll deffinitly start looking around, and using fellow class prisoners as sketch subjects. It should help a lot.

I know this doesn't look very realistic. She is far too thin and tall to even be considered healthy, and the fans are at bad angles. The inking job is particularly bad as well, I'm afraid. But I just got the inking pins yesterday, so it's really my first time inking, so it did turn out well for a first time inking. I learned some things, that's for sure.

The character is just a bad joke for an old friend. She used to wear a similar costume to dance with fans (I'm not sure if it was traditional or just something her family did, they were all a little odd), but she was very good at it. And very good at beating us with said fans afterwards when we laughed at her for dancing to begin with.

But, I think I did a lot better than I thought I would. I freaked out at drawing on unlined paper, it's something I've never really done before, so... wow, it was an interesting experience. Pencil lines don't erase nearly as well off of this paper compared to notebook paper, that's for sure!


The measurement of a regular human is 7 heads tall, right? Because that's the measurement I used on this drawing. I know the hands aren't supossed to fall longer than mid thigh as well, but I don't know the other measurements, sorry.

Still haven't figured out why the Attachment Manager is flipping my images either, sorry. Does anyone else know why it's flipping my photos from vertical to horizonal? They're vertical when I upload them.
