Here's one that I worked on last night. I painted it in grayscale, and then colourized it with something similar to a Gradient Map, then did the final tweaks.

Everything you see here is done with TVPaint.

Nicely done, i just don't get what it is she is saying...probably not important. But all the same, looks nice.

Nahhh it's not important what she's saying -- it's just some snobby frou-frou thing that stereotypical fashionistas say -- used sort of in the context like:

unwashed citizen: So... is that dress from paris?
fashionista: Milahn, dahling, milaaaahhhhn!!

I was browsing through some fashion photos to get some ideas for costume design, and the phrase popped in my head, so I figured I would try to pull it off, but have her do it in a mocking tone of voice with a comically exaggerated flambuoyant gesture of condescension

So, I acted the whole thing out and worked back and forth in front of a mirror and constantly checked and re-checked the pose and expression to make sure that the original feeling and intentions came through in the sketch before I went on to paint it in grayscale.

Once all the values were defined, I used filters similar to Photoshop's Gradient map, but I have a tool I created in TVPaint that allows me to paint the effect on in localized areas -- so I would have separate gradients for the fleshtones, hair, and clothing.

Finally I did any touchups where things didn't quite look right.

She's sayin Milan, darling, Milan, in a weird accent, ala edna mode off the incredibles. It seems like she only has 3 fingers on the front hand, and it seems weird to me that you used an outline on her body and dress and not around her hair. She might be falling backwards but i can't really tell where her back foot is. I think if you jsut smoothed out the area around her jaw it would be nicer too. The bg is a little boring too but thats just imo. I like the chick overall though, very cute, love the foreshortening of the hand

gotta run, cya

I like the idea of not outlining the hair, it needs further experimentation to get it to work right though, maybe adding darker values in the shadows could get it to attach better to the head. Nice character. Really the only thing I have a problem with is the lettering and the three fingered hand.

Yeah, that hand bugs me too... *goes in to fix it*

As for her back leg, you can only see a little bit of it peeking out, but it really isn't very obvious from behind the flap of her dress. I think I'll need to deal with the tones a bit to make it stand out more.
