Job Description:
Utilize your expertise in research, design and implementation of innovative physics techniques to create adaptable technology for use in multiple next-generation games. Specifically, development of real-time physics simulation and collision detection functionality on top of existing third party libraries. Daily tasks include tools support, maintenance and expansion of existing API and feature set (including rag doll and vehicles). Expand the feature set to include features such as destructible object system and cloth physics. You will work to achieve individual, team, and project goals. Previous game engine or embedded system experience is critical.
Primary Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the implementation & design of cross-platform physics architecture for use in multiple projects within the studio while working with an exceptionally talented team of software engineers, artists and designers.
General Education / Work Experience:
BSCS, BSEE or equivalent experience
Minimum 3-5 years C/C++ programming experience
2+ years practical/actual experience in real-time physics or collision detection
Expert knowledge of collision detection techniques
Strong math skills (Algebra, Trigonometry, 3D Math, Physics)
Expert understanding of spatial data structures, collisions and intersection testing
Proactive problem solver – investigating all facets of the issue to seek resolution
Excellent communication skills working within a large team of other engineers, artists, designers and producers
Organized and detail oriented – able to focus on quality AND deadlines simultaneously
Able to work independently and within a team environment
Additional specialized skills:
Experience with console game development – PC & handhelds a plus
Expert technical design, coding, debugging
Experience with particle systems
Knowledge of 3D modeling & animation software – Maya a big plus!
Keen interest in researching & implementing new techniques
