I decided to buy a fog machine from one of the seasonal Halloween USA stores. This is from my first picture test seeing what I could do with it. It's just a McFarlane/Spawn figure that was sitting on a counter top with a board behind it. I stuck a clamp light on top of my fridge for the light source.

This was my favorite pic after experimenting with different exposure times while blowing the fog at it. I also did a little bit of Photoshop. I applied the Nik Midnight Blue filter, sharpened the light part of the face/skull, and Dodged the weapon blade edges and a little bit on the shoulder armor.

I'm including a small linked pic of what the character looks like without the special FX stuff for comparison.

If you hadn't said what you'd done to it I would have told you to put it in a different forum, it looks like a painting! It's a good concept, keep going and see what else you can produce.

Small crit: the top of the horse's head kinda detratcs from it to me, otherwise it could be a standing figure.

Thanks. Yeah I think next time I'll try just a standing figure without a horse. It was a little distracting.

It would be cool if you could put a hot spot behind it and get those cool volumetic shadows blasting out.

i agree regarding the horse, i think the figure looks so much cooler 'standing up'. and see what kind of backgrounds you can incorporate, maybe take it in the backyard or somewhere and get some trees in the distance, i think the whole 'battlefield' look would give it that extra punch!

what a nice idea you are having and I really like it~ I'm eager to see what else the frog machine could produce =)! maybe you could try working out how to put in the background also and it will look even more realistic
