I've never really tried doing self portraits and figured i should start. Its been a good thing for me so far so im probably going to move round various parts of anatomy for a while to see what else i can learn.

(wow the legendary rorshach :nerd: )

They are really good, did you draw them from imagination or by a reference?

From reference, I took a bunch of pics with my digi cam in front of the monitor after setting the desktop to a bright colour so i could trying to learn more interesting lighting.

Some of them look like a photographs “pushed” thru the PhotoShop filters, but hey what do I know..

Keep up the work!

I'd say the same as Darkcult: the photos were too obviously traced in certain cases. It always looks better, in my humble opinion, to actually redraw "from scratch" and using the photo as a reference rather than a template. The lighting experiments are cool though.

5 and 7 were gaussian blurred and noise filtered before being worked up. 7 was blurred to the point of becoming a a basic rough pastel base. This was a good way for me to ensure i was forced into matching a similar rough approach to shading and a good learning experience.

The others were from scratch and again, good learning experience, but a different learning experience.

I found drawing from scratch easier though!

Thanks for the feedback
