Wacom Intous 3 touch strip question

Is there any way to make the touch strip work while the stylus is drawing on the tablet?

I would like to be able to change brush size or opacity while I'm making a stroke. As it is right now, I have to stop drawing with the stylus in order to use the touch strip - they don't seem to work simultaneously.

Unfortunately, the TouchStrips seem to be incapable of functioning while you're painting. Stupid, I know. But that's the way things are for now. Like Scoobydoo said, you can set the pen pressure to affect the size and/or opacity instead.
