Installing Painter 8 on win98?

I know that they say Painter 8 requires Win 2000 or XP but ive heard and even have a buddy who can run it on Win98. I have Win98 but can't install it. Am I doing something wrong? At the moment I have painter6. please help.

I'm using win98 SE and Painter 8 is working just fine on it.
