View Full Version : DSG 1123:Sci-Fi: BADASS RUBBER-SUITED TECHNOCRAT HAS RECESSED BODY NOOKS FOR WEAPONRY

[ The synthetic mechanisms of prosthetic body replacements don't need the same room recquired by muscles and fat and such, and thus might afford parking room for extra things like (of course) guns and knives. ]
[ That's the premise of today's topic. ]
[ You might consider having weapons or tools that are only partly recessed, as well... ]
[ Such things might be in the arms or legs or the back... ]
[ Wherever. ]
[ Sortuv the same idea as the gun that Robocop had stored in his leg, I suppose. ]
[ Maybe a bit more organic looking, though, and maybe lacking the cover plate. ]
[ Well... ]
[ I suppose I'll leave you to your own devices. ]
[ :teeth: ]

Well, at first I thought that was a typo and you wanted a cyber rat. Anyway, for anyone else that didn't know what a technocrat was, it is this:
"an expert who is a member of a highly skilled elite group"
or
"a group or class of persons enjoying superior intellectual or social or economic status"
-Thought that might help reduce such posts as "I have no idea what you want."
[ ADMIN EDIT: The definition has also been expanded to mean someone who is a proponent of technology. Thanks Johnnyhorse. You're probably right about people needing further explanation, but I just always hope that those who are confused by a term or word will simply do a definition search, or make an educated guess. - Wm. ]

Guys...I dont even listen to the guidelines most of the time...whatever pops into my head I do...I guess thats not real life but come on we are artists we break all the rules because they're there...
[ ADMIN EDIT: Well... Yes and no. Keep in mind that one of the main ideas here is that you create concept art. You are free to interpret the topics as you like, but do interpret them... don't just do "whatever". I go to some trouble to come up with these things, so I'd appreciate it if you actually read them and attempt to match the words with a picture. ;) Thanks - Wm. ]

goblins trully believe in recycling humans.

Hmm kind of forgot to implement those body nooks... :/ but atleast he has something little stuffed inside his arm and leg.. though the leg implant looks more like a holster on his pants. Tried to achieve the rubbery look with high contrast (ink-like) shadows and details on his suit.
~1 hour... anatomy ain't that great as you see... there's much to learn. :)

Illustrange: Hehe, funny idea with the goblin "driving" the human. Nice rendering too with the slimy stuff!!

Take the belief that technology can solve anything to a fanatic level, a new brand of terrorist has emerged. Carrying firearms made of advanced polymers and ceramics in concealed nooks, and hunting down the opposition.

Hey guys, first post here. Thought this sounded fun, so I decided to join in.
First female character in the thread?
I decided to make this in paintchat in a technique I don't really control, for some reason. Anyway, spunky manga girl. I kinda stole the bowgun idea from Shirow. Sorry.

Well, I actually did two (nearly finished) pieces for this DSG... problem is, I seemed to exceed the bandwidth for the day and I can't even upload the pics to photobucket... sheesh.
One's a total rip off from Jin-Roh anyway (I didn't realize it till I was almost done).
And indeed... all good entries! I think the DSG is in it's prime right now... now where's Goran?

CamSyko: Haha, I can almost imagine that guy on the dancefloor, somehow... Living in his own world, dancing slowly totally out of synch with the music... with his glowstick hands...
Johnnyhorse: Well, if you're uploading a lot of pics it might be worth to get some sort of account you pay for, they are generally much more reliable. I use the full boomspeed.com account for $6 a month. Or a web hotel like one.com (https://www.one.com/init.do?&locale=en), where you get 1000 MB for only €1.25 a month. On the other hand, you have to use a ftp program to access the server. But you'll have no bandwitdh problems :)
Ramonsk8: Thanks :)

Dan Liimatta: He could hide a huge stash in that hairdo. :) Nice work, I´m impressed that you could whip that up in 25 minutes.
A few sporadic comments:
Johnnyhorse: Number two looks like he´s pulling ammo out of the thigh, great idea. The grey one looks a bit like all his doors are flapping as he runs. Nice drawing still.
Serpian: Nice design. The top right one looks really stiff though.
Ragathol: Cute!
Illustrange: Like it, very imaginative.

I use a stopwatch when I draw for the DSG since the 114 incident (spent 3 hours on that one).
So 5 minutes for the rough, if it holds water and is not utter shit I use it and then add 5 or 15 minutes of trying to get it to work, and then 5-10 minutes of polish.
I really regret the posture and some other problems with this piece, but I simply didn't have time to change given the priority the face had etc.
Anyway thanks, and speed training ftw

Lots of cool stuff everyone!
facek: Nice first post! Welcom to DSG. I'm not exactly sure why he is thinking about fish, but I like your concept and style. Some of the black outline is very uniform. I would consider varrying the line thickness a little bit more. If you don't have a tablet, this might be very difficult. Also, the image file has been compressed so much that distortion in the solid areas of color is very noticable. Try saving with less compression. I look forward to seeing more from you.

Meh, nothing from me this time; been too busy and also couldn't come up
with something I liked, so I'll just throw in some critiques:
ConCrete - nice sketch, not sure about the background
facek - very cool comicstyle-guy
Mehz - watching and imagining this makes me ache all over my body:)
Lady Hydralisk - good lighting and nice technoid look
LateNiteHype - like the left forearm, good place for a blade
Illustrange - too funny, like it
Turni - good reflections and halo
ConceptOrk - nice hatching. What distracts me is the photo in the
background, the perspective's different
Crustacean - WOW! Excellent, that's as badass as can be.
Pixel - composition makes it look like a pic from a surveillance camera, not bad though...
armando - glad you misread it, like the fat guy.
Hamsta - quite nice! like the lighting and the roughness.
Ragathol - Welcome aboard, good mangapic:)
Camsyco - prefer the second guy, he looks pretty badass
Gentrifier - looks good, probably shouldn't be so vague
Sepian - that's some fine sketching, also like the retro-look
Beershite - funniest entry, glad you had to;)
Johnnyhorse - I like both very much, but I'd prefer the first since he's weirder and more unusual
dan liimatta - pretty cool! I especially like the face, very well done.
Horesefly - to me one of the best concepts, good idea
Mitze - good job, not bad for 30 minutes

Horsefly, like the way you pulled of that gun hand, even if it is cropped. I can see how the hand would open and the gun would rise out. I wanted to do something like that, I was thinking Transformers and the fat lady suit from Total Recall, but didn't have the knowledge to put it together.
