Hi
I have been using 1and1's free webhosting thanks to they're promotion that they ran; my free period is coming to a close in the next few months and I wanted to hear from anyone else that is in the same boat. What are you planning to do? Stay with 1and1 or jump ship? Has anyone already had their free webhosting end and go paid? I'd love to hear from others about your experiences.
If you think that 1and1's current plans are not very good, let me know why. I'd love to hear other peoples opinions... it's what keeps me from doing work most of the time!
thanks for your eyes and replies.

I've been with 1and1's free promo for ...err... 3 years, they never asked any money of me. Weird isn't it? Anyways, I love the setup even if I had to pay I'd probably stay there.
I was with http://www.azhosting.com/ before that and it was good and cheap.

Qitsune, ya the 1and1 plan is what I've been on, but it will end (the free part) I think this december. I've been quite happy with it and will likely stay with them just because it may be to much work to move. I was just wondering what others are thinking of doing as the free plan ends and payed plans start up.
I really don't know if what I'd be paying to get at 1and1 is a good deal, am I getting and paying for more then I need or not? I don't know... so I'm asking the wisdom of the interwebnets.
Thanks for your reply, by the by which plan are you planning to stayed with 1and1 on?

I've been a paying customer of 1and1 for a few years now and it's fine by me. I've been having strange popups sometimes tho, but I don't know if it's related to my counters or if 1and1 started adding popups on a random basis. It could also be my computer that's full of spam, etc. Just a heads up.

Zram: I'm supposed to be on a 1year free plan but they never told me it was over, 2 years ago, so they never asked any money.
Egerie: I never had a single pop up, but then again, I don't use any add-ons, cgi's or scripts provided by them.

1and1 has terrible reviews online. I have an account with them, but I much prefer hostgator.com
It really depends on how much traffic you anticipate, if you need many databases and if you plan to host more than one domain -- if these are your situation, hostgator.com is best.
Stay away from powweb.com, clickonhosting.com and webmasters.com

I haven't a clue about the American branch, but I've been with the UK 1&1 for about 3 years now and not had any problems.
