:nohope: I cant see most of your pics- getting that blasted red x. I can see one of your torso studies and the town pic. The town pic is what caught my eye, really great atmosphere on that one especialy the titanic castle in the fog- really makes you wonder what's in there.

Nice work, good handle on lighting and atmosphere.

You mentioned details in my sb, actually the detail balance on the 1st painting is pretty good. You could push it some more around the head area with more wrinkles and tiny screws, but I think it's working as is.

The rain in the environment makes it feel a little busy, but it is rain, which I haven't done before. My first thought is to render the rain as a thick fog instead, using splashing in puddles, large water drops from building rooftops, and other devices to imply that it is raining without having to render every raindrop.

For details, Martiniere's pieces (http://www.martiniere.com/) have thought me a lot.

Thanks Meatsworthy for your words.

Yes, your're right about the rain, your option about the fog sounds interesting. Could be nice to do it the next rainy painting.

Thanks!

I'm seeing them all now. I wanted to coment that your first figure looks like a todler- becuase it has a rather large noggin. Of course, it was the torso you were studying, so I guess it's irrelavent. I like that wierd guy, your avatar. I agree with the guy who said that more detail would be nice. The mood and style make me think of warhammer 40k, because he's sortof mutilated with technology. But I suppose you may not have a clue what warhammer is...

Thanks Macar!
Yes, I know what do you mean about warhammer :)
Maybe sometime in the future I'll add more detail to this character, but right know I want to study a bit until start painting propertly :)

Here is today's study!
Thanks !!

Hey fog still new sb ? welcome ;D
Actually i really like your shading style on the human bodies, looks pretty neat ^^
The pic with the houses and the castle in background looks good only the cloud break , where the lightning is really bright seems a bit unatural because of the fog.
Keep updating fog ^^

Thanks for your words man! I really appreciate it!

The background it was the second finish background that I did, so the next one I hope is going to be a little better (I hope) :D

Thanks!

Hi Sith! yes I'm a user at alp's forum too :P

nice update man :)

I really love the shading on thoses characters and the composition is good too

did you made it from a direct ref ?

For theses custom brushes in ps, what kind of image u take? do you use photos or you paint it from scratch ?

fog
October 10th, 2006, 04:00 PM
Thanks man!
Yes I did it with a ref. No color picking and no tracing, just the original in one side :)
For this paintng I used a normal round brush with 50% opacity, nothing wierd :D

Nice environments you got here. Especially the b&w old village with castle has nice mood to it. Another good piece is that renaissance style painting with the man on the cross. I was only missing more translucence to the mans skin. And maybe a hint of pinkish tone it. At the moment skin looks almost mummified. Or maybe the ref pic had those tones i don't know =) Anyways, good work.

very nice stuff here. I really like your work in environments -very good sense of depth and texture. I suggest that you might experiment more with vehicles, or characters from your imagination -it could open doors in concepting for video games.

My sketchbook is here (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71080)

Hey Fog
I love the soft colours you use, love the focus in the top one too, the soup bowl one (I presume it's soup?).
A lot of your previous work doesn't seem to be showing up, could be due to CA server problems.
Are these painted from photos, or are they straight from your head? Either way, good work, I'd love to see more.

Thanks mate!
Yes, it's a Chinese soup :p

Mostly all the paintings are based on photos, I'm trying to improve and don't get stuck :)
Here is another piece. A bit weird this one :D

Thanks mate!

Another one for tonight.
I wanted to do something different in terms of color. I usually tend to work with blues/browns, but for this one I tried to to for the green.
I have to say that I quite like it :)
