Very nice, I like the style. Did you use brush and ink, or markers? I can kind of see some texture to it, which makes me think markers.
Very dynamic pose, and the composition is very cool and unique. I'm not sure if you are foreshortening the sword arm and the leg or not. It feels like you're trying to make it a somewhat low angle shot with the arm and leg coming toward the viewer.
Very cool! You're use of contrast is great. The combination of large black areas with the thinner more detailed areas is quite nice.

wow that's really great. i must agree, beautiful style. it looks like prisma marker but some of those line widths are really smooth to tell what it is. the style reminds me a bit of Whilce's "Wetworks" comic book. I think I spelled his name right...all my damn comics are 1700 miles away -.- anyways really nice pic, plans on coloring it?

Haha, guys, wait until it's colored...it pushes the work to 200 percent...
oglzogl, long time no see...this is one great composition! It's very promising...
The only crit is his right wrist (the left for us). The corners of the bracelet are too hard...they should look like an ellipse...

.. glad to get such positive feedback. Makes me feel like I may be going in the right direction :)
Phait - Thanks. I feel like I am exploring a new teritory with this style myself. Of course, it is heavily influenced by what I see many other peoples work.. but it is something I have not tried until recently, at least.
Sammy - I am just getting into inking (well, I guess I did use markers) all my drawing.. usually. Used to use pencils exclusively but got sick of them smearing. Glad you like.
platypusStar - Actually they are very fine markers. good call. I've been meaning to get some nice inks (my markers dry out too quickly) but have yet to make it to the supply store.
I am trying to get a sense of foreshortening and my biggest concern was whether it communicated that correctly. Especially the arm and sword.
vegetasonac - I've never heard of that comic. I will have to look it up. I am sure that a lot of my style is very heavily influenced by comics. Been collecting them my whole life.
Actually, one thing I am trying to is to develop a style which will allow me to draw and tell an illustrated story. I have written out a number of chapters for a story that has been lodged in my head for years. I have about four or five chapters drawn out (only one is lettered) but have temporarily abandoned the project because I was not very happy with how the images were coming together.
I had it in my mind that it was important to use Flash for these stories and perhaps that is why I choose the style I originally used.. But now I am not so sure Flash is as important. Or maybe it is. Either way, I want to explore new drawing methods.
Well, now I am rambling... :D
Yo Fozzy! - Thanks.. and I see what you mean about the wrist (err, bracer? I know what you mean :) ). That was the area of my main concern. Another issue I had with this peice was that the bracers didn't match each other very well to my eye.
I have been lurking around a bit and enjoying what others are doing.. not much posting though. I have been oil painting mainly these last couple of months. And drawing a bit. A lot of abstracted pieces and things like that. Just had to step away from my comp for a bit.
Thanks for the continued faith in my coloring. That is one of the things I enjoy doing the most :D
egerie - Thanks :) onward and upward!
Alric - Glad you like! Although I haven't done it yet, perhaps you will see this colored sometime soon ;)
.. once again, thanks for taking the time. Hope to have more posted soon.

i used to listen to a group called KMFDM, and they had cover art that was somewhat similar to this. there's was more ridgid, and I like your style better.
nice job.

heh yeah i do see a lil flash influence in your work but at first glance i wouldn't have really noticed it. your style is good in that way. what i said about Whilce Portacio and his work in "Wetworks" may have been a bit rushed. There's a bit of his style in yours but I guess not alot as I thought. He's close to Jim Lee's work. Anyways here is some of his stuff if you ever wanted to check it out.

Thanks for posting the link vegetasonac. I really like a lot of what I saw there. Nice style.
One problem I have ecountered with this style is with women. It is hard for me to keep them looking feminine and dynamic at the same time with this method. It's really helpful to see how it is handled there.
And Atomicfate.. thanks for the compliment. I used to listen to KMFDM a bit too and always liked their covers. I did kind of like the stiffness of the characterseven if I wouldnt draw that way. Glad mine works for you :D
