[ Felt like the topics've been a bit on the dark side lately... ]

[ So, I thought something a little more friendly and optimistic might be in order. ]

[ The craft should seem designed for both flight through the air and flight through the water. ]

Yes, now that you mention it, the dark trenchcoated tentacle men with alien sergeants and tentacled-crab pyramids and HAVE been a little creepy.

WOW! LadyHydralisk, this is another great work of you! I really love it, exactly what I would think of...

Lady Hydralisk: awesome looking, love <3 the gold wings, but careful with the water's perspective!

"Captain Giacomo test piloting the brand new Garza Super 3000, a luxury private boat prototype straight out of the Garza factory! Able to travel through water or air, it has excellent fuel consumption and therefore, autonomy."

Thank you Ramon, you give me teh warm fuzzies with your cheerful attitude. :>

DrFX, Yes, perspective is my personal hell. I even have trouble with it in school. (hehe CA is wayyy more challenging) I ignore it until the very end and then I am like "oops".

Nice winged boat, very greek....The bat wings remind me of Uncle Leo's inventions....

Goran, always nice to see your work as usual. It looks like a collection of flying tongues, sucking on lozenges, cross referenced with a frog torso. It's hard to tell your work is digital. Looks like one of those awful weekend long ink benders I used to go on in HS...

wow, I like both mehz and Serpian's work. but I still like the first one most, I've added it to my inspirational art-map. whenever I need some inspiration, I just open that map on my desktop and watch some drawings... THANKS!

Looks like it's clear skies and back winds in sunny Southern California, where a flying boat fanatic has scrapped together his own elegant machine.

hi all, pretty fast one today, maybe half an hour.

critiques:

LadyHydralisk - like it, very shiny:) the water below the vehicle seems to "fold"; what DrFx said.
DrFx - nice reflection, good loose feeling in the pic
goran - beautiful reflections, beautiful BW-work
machzero - very blurry, maybe a harder brush next time?
Mehz - hilarious, is she sitting on their beards which are tied together?
Serpian - very cool perspective/angle
Hamsta - pretty good one, like the backward propellers;)
Crustacean - very cool and stylized
MarkDn - nice desing and chrome

Wow ramon, I'm totally flattered...just don't copy my awful perspective problems...be sure to add some old masters stuff to your art map as well, they have some great concept art...often weirder than the stuff in the DSG.

Passenger sperm! Woah! That tail looks terribly Sorayama-ish as well. Lol!

I have difficulty believing any of these could fly, except for the small bearded men, somehow it just seems right.

haha, thanks LadyHydralisk, but you're the one to thank. I know there are some real pro's around here, but looking at your pics just makes me feel inspirrated. my map doesn't contain wonderful art, but inspirational art. there is so much art on here, I only save the ones that get me inspirated to draw...

now: time for my work!

Golden Sun:
the first one is a sketch I made today at school. I'm now in my fourth year at highschool, and I have alot of free hours in between my lessons. today, I made a sketch for an underwater vehicle that can't really fly, but uses 4 wind bags with which it can glide over 2 kilometers (is that how you say it, kilometers?). maybe I'll ink it and give it some color later on, just imagine it's gold...

http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n26/ramonsk8/goldensunsketch.jpg

Heart Of Mere:
the next one is an old drawing which I made about a half year ago. I found it back yesterday night, so I started to update it some and draw it in with colors. I didn't use photoshop for it, sice I was already in bed, but I used my colors to give it some elegant white/blue effect, the perfect colors for a future-vehicle. this ship can both hover underwater and fly above water without any effort. I would love to hover/fly in one of those...

http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n26/ramonsk8/heartofmere.jpg

this is something completely different. this is how I got to the idea of making the Heart Of Mere. I was bored during my German-language lesson and I started to make poses with my scissors and 2 ballpens. I got inspired by this pose and made an entire vehicle out of it:

http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n26/ramonsk8/heartofmereidea.jpg

please please PLEASE let me know what you think. is it good, is it bad, what's cool, what sucks, can I improve some stuff? don't hestitate to let me know, I can take some hard crits, because they'll only make me better in the future...

demdike Thanks. Your's is quite snazzy, reminds me of the battle of the planets airplane/submarine.
Can't see any blatant mistakes, but IMO I find the pallete somewhat depressing/dirty.

I like it, nuclearbavaria

one question, by nuclearbavaria, do you mean the bavaria beer? if so, I LIVE IN THE LITTLE TOWN WHERE THEY BREW IT! Bavaria's located in the Netherlands, in Lieshout to be precisely. I don't drink it, I never drink, but it's fun to live in a little town where they brew one of the biggest beers of the entire world... but about your drawing: I really like it.'I like the form, it's looking very speedy, great style, keep on the good work!
